  1. With great power / influence comes great responsibility.. this video is shocking to me because it's misleading and they don't seem to have noticed or even care, but this video will be referenced for years to come and could have a meaningful impact on sales in the industry. If they had also included another high end gen3 system this video would have been a huge positive note because it would shown that both cheap nvme drives and gen4 drives are a step backwards compared to top end sata and gen3, but as that isn't even mentioned the conclusion will instead be that no nvme is worth it and people shouldn't even consider them.
  2. Doesn't matter, it's the first thing people see and later if they're shopping and they see a cheap option that looks like what linus was holding they would probably pick that one. The problem with clickbait thumbnails is they're also memorable to an extent.
  3. A few things.. the thumbnail shows an entry level kingston sata ssd, but in the video we see a WD Blue m.2 sata ssd installed which is noticably faster and competes with the 860 evo for fastest sata consumer ssd. The gen3 ssd looks to be a cheap 2x pci-e drive with a slow controller and possibly even QLC flash, which would be a fair comparison to the cheap kingston drive shown in the thumbnail but would be slower in actual use than the WD Blue sata drive. Gen4 ssd's currently are tuned for bandwidth and not latency, to the point where AMD told wendle not to use one when benching threadripper 3000 because it will slow it down compared to good gen3 drive (like a corsair MP510 or samsung 970 EVO) So really the problem was with the drives used, but that wasn't discussed in the video and was possibly even misrepresented by the video's thumbnail because if people buy the sata drive shown in the thumbnail performance will be worse than every drive shown in the video, sometimes not even reaching more than sataII speeds.
  4. That is a good cpu, I even got the model just under it for my steambox.. but you can hit cpu limiting with it in some games. Hell my 4.2Ghz 4770K hits 97% usage at times while playing on pearl market in BF4 multiplayer, and that's on med-high settings 1080p with a 780ti.
  5. I made a pc for my brother years ago (with the i7 870 when it came out) with a CoolIT 120mm AIO cooler.. it's been running stock the whole time and still going strong.. and he almost never turns it off. After some googling it seems the 870 came out in 2009, so it's been 5yrs already and still going strong.. only been cleaned twice too lol.
  6. Try reinstalling windows but don't use the driver cd, download the drivers from ASUS website and install them one at a time starting with the intel chipset driver. This may mean downloading the drivers on another machine and putting them on a usb flash drive.
  7. Other options here would be to get an i5 4590 and a asrock B85M-PRO3 for just under $350 aud posted from pccasegear and sit on that for years and not worry about spending more money on more cpus or cooling for overclocking. I don't think you will need more cpu power than that for 60fps gaming for a long time.
  8. For SLI support you need at least pci-e x8 for each videocard and a motherboard that has the SLI liscence from nvidia.. cheaper motherboards lack one or both of those so you need to check your motherboard's support / spec page to work out if it will work. If the spec sheet for your motherboard doesn't mention SLI then it doesn't support it.. that feature costs money to have so they will always mention it if they have paid money to add it. If it just says it supports crossfire it won't work for SLI.
  9. For me definately the original Gran Turismo on the full fat PS1. I tried that but it ran slow and had no shaders so no cool paint jobs.. I ended up giving it away and playing it on pc lol. Also check out the texture mod for it on pc, amazing.
  10. Long time watcher of the wan show (over a year anyways), first time poster in here.. If I won this I would finally have a reason to pull my TJ07 out of storage and finish my mods on it.. been on an ITX kick for a while now, dual gpus would be nice, long time since dual GTX 480's and BF:BC2.
