  1. Thanks for the suggestion! Foolishly I didn't try that, but it seems like I didn't have to. I ran TestDisk and followed some instructions. It found the partitions, and after a restart all I had to do was assign a Drive Letter in Disk Management and the drives returned! I still have no idea what caused the issue, but I suppose if it happens again I have an idea on how to repair it.
  2. Hey LTT Forum, I have an issue I've been spending the last few days on with no progress. Here's my current specs: CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X Mobo: ASUS Prime X570 GPU: Gigabyte 2070 Super RAM: 64GB 3200MHz G.Skill Trident Z PSU: Corsair CX550M OS: Windows 10 64-Bit, fully updated The system has been running fine since I built it in mid-2020. However, a couple days ago I woke up and found that all of my SATA drives were missing. They still showed up in the BIOS, and I checked Disk Management and saw that all of the drives were there, but come up as "Not Initialized" and Unallocated. My two M.2 drives are working fine. I thought it was highly unlikely that four SATA drives all conveniently died in the same 8 hour window, so I checked CrystalDiskInfo and all but one of them show "Good" health. I also thought the SATA controller on the motherboard may have died, so I installed a brand new PCI SATA adapter and plugged them all in, but the same thing happens: Not Initialized. I have no idea what could have happened, as all the drives were working fine just days ago, and now none of them are accessible. I did notice a restore point had been created while I was sleeping, but restoring to that point didn't change anything, and I have no idea what program would have initiated it. I really don't want to initialize and wipe the data from them, as these are my storage drives that have years of files on them. Any ideas?
  3. Alright, final update. The problem seems to be fixed after reinstalling Windows 10, so I guess it was some deep driver issue that I wasn't able to fix just by reinstalling the drivers. Didn't need that new PSU after all.
  4. LOL, a USB minifridge would be tight, but it's just a regular one plugged into a different outlet in my room. My PC equipment is plugged into the wall behind my desk, and the fridge is on the wall to my right. As far as windows events, I never got a chance to check. I'm currently resetting Windows, so if it continues after that I'll see if there are any event logs.
  5. Another update. Bought a brand new PSU, the Corsair CS650M (Which still has ketchup and mustard cables??), and... the problem still occurs. One thing I forgot to note is that when the devices disconnect, two of my three monitors go to black, then come back. But this only happens if I'm playing a game in full-screen mode. This problem gets weirder by the second. Luckily, I still have a Microcenter warranty for my motherboard, so maybe I can return that tomorrow and either get a replacement or a different one altogether. It's either that or reinstall my OS, neither of which I'm too keen on.
  6. I was in this situation recently, and I turned to RocketJumpNinja to see what mouse would be good. His recommendations are geared specifically towards FPS and to a lesser extent MOBA games, so I'd give his top 40 list a look and then his reviews for whichever mouse catches your eye. Personally, I use the wireless G403 for Overwatch.
  7. Alright, I did a little testing, but I'm not closer to an answer. While playing Overwatch, I disconnected every USB device that wasn't my mouse, keyboard, or microphone. Problem still persisted. I then turned off my two side monitors (I have a triple setup), and the problem persisted. Unplugged the monitors from the wall, and from the PC, and the problem didn't fully go away, but it happened much less frequently. Maybe the GPU is drawing too much power from the motherboard and it's hitting a threshold on my PSU that's making the devices drop out temporarily?
  8. Hey LTT, coming at you with an irritating problem. I have this issue where every so often, all of my USB devices will just disconnect for a few seconds and then reconnect. At first I thought it was my minifridge messing with the power or something, but even after unplugging it the problem keeps happening. My keyboard goes out, my mouse goes out, the USB mic goes out, and even the USB header for my H100i V2 says it's disconnected. After maybe 5 seconds, everything comes back. The one solution I saw for this was to change the USB power settings in my power plan, but I already have the selective suspend setting Disabled, so it's not that. At this point I'm thinking it's either the PSU (at this point an 8-year-old Corsair 750TX), or my motherboard, a Gigabyte X99P SLI. I don't think it's the PSU though, because I can run my GPU at 100% all night and it doesn't fluctuate in power or anything. The weirdest part, though, is that this wasn't happening for the past 3 months when I was staying at a friend's place. Maybe because I had less USB devices plugged in?
  9. Thanks for the suggestions! I'll look into the cases that have been posted here. I'm leaning towards the Define S suggestion, as I've heard great things about Fractal Design and I've been wanting to work with one of their cases. I find it better for cooling.
  10. Heya, LTT community. A buddy of mine is looking to upgrade his system for overclocking, and I'm helping him out with it. He's getting an AIO, and I'm trying to find a good case for a front mounted system. I used quotations in the title because obviously this is pretty subjective and there's no real "best" case. The only things it really needs are front mounted radiator support and the ability to hold at least one or two 3.5" drives. I thought about the H440, but from my experience you have to pull out all of the HDD cages, and I'm not sure where a 3.5" drive can go in that. I was also considering the Enthoo Evolve ATX TG, but it doesn't seem like it has much room for 3.5" drives. Any ideas?
  11. Yeah, hopefully. This would be my second time ever doing a RMA, heh. Hopefully MSI is good with the process.
  12. Hey LTT, I do believe I have a dead GPU on my hands. I started up Overwatch earlier and while loading into a match my system froze and a checkerboard of blue and red squares appeared all over my monitors. See pic. Upon restarting, my 1070 wasn't recognizing my DisplayPort monitor, but the DVI still worked. I reinstalled the Nvidia drivers and it was detected again, so I figured maybe I was out of the woods. Tried Overwatch again, same thing happens. This time, I can't even get the drivers to install properly and my one working monitor is stuck at 800x600. Give it to me straight, LTT. Is it a goner? Side note, I did have the card over clocked, but it never gave me issues in the past. No artifacts, no hang ups, nothing. This is pretty out of the blue.
  13. What's the best power supply you've ever had the pleasure of using? Doesn't matter the price, the intended market, or when you got it. For me, it's the Corsair 750TX, which I'm still using today. I bought it in 2008, and even though I had two that were DOA, the third has been going smoothly for all these years (knock on wood)! I almost don't want to upgrade or anything because I want to see just how long it's going to stay around.
  14. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up mine tomorrow. I'll be able to pair it nicely with a MSI x99 RAIDER and some form of a 32gb DDR4 kit, with a GTX 1080 later down the line. It's been so long since I upgraded my system, it'll be good to have some new parts in there. Can't wait for that fresh silicon smell.
