  1. So ive decided to embark on a new mod. I wasnt going to modify this build, but my Crosshair VI Hero for my ryzen build is on backorder. My anxiousness to do this build inspired me to get creative. Also, my 800D is way outdated and needs to be brought up to modern standards. The plan is to put two 360 rads in the case. On up top, one in the front. Drive mounting relocated to the bottom where the psu is. Also, updating the front panel i/o to support usb type c.
  2. There's bound to be specific needs for each headset, but it should be easier that most expect to make it work with both.
  3. Oculus is a an open platform. Developers only have to support VR, to support all headsets. each one has it's own features, but the core VR rendering technology is universal accross the board. Also, lighthouse is being offered to other headset makers, and FOVE has already vowed to make use of it. VR is niche, but not nearly as much as many people think. Once it's available to try (and Oculus and HTC have both said it will be demoed in stores) poeple will jump in. It's only going to take a year before there's major traction in VR, i'm certain of it. (i've been playing with both Rifts for a while now).
  4. I ordered 5. I contacted them to see if they will work with other devices, and I was told that they will. I ordered them for my Xbox One and Wii U Pro controllers.
  5. 2 whole pages and not one person has mentioned the HTC Vive which will be released in the coming months. First to market virtual reality headset, with the ability to walk around in VR. Many people who have tried it and the Oculus say that HTC's setup is much more convincing. HTC isn't going anywhere. They have to make some changes, but I'm pretty sure the company will be transitioning to virtual reality as it's bread and butter over the coming years. VR, even if you aren't convinced yet, is going to be a MASSIVE market, and being first to retail is going to go a long way for HTC.
  6. SSD's aren't used for storage in business because it's too risky. In the case of a mechanical drive if something fails, you can still send it off for recovery. The magnetic platters retain thier data. For an SSD, if a chip fials, ALL THE DATA IS GONE FOREVER. For this reason, SSD's are not likely to take over as a storage medim in data centers. They are used for acceleration, but not long term storage.
  7. The words your used were "I could blow through a million really fucking quick so I'd have to disagree" Key word being "blow" That right there implied you'd spend it, rather than invest it. Either way that plan would leave needing to continue to earn money - investing it and only spending the interest means you'll never "blow" through the money.
  8. And if you did that you'd be an absolute moron. This is why lotto winner end up going bankrupt. Anyone COULD blow through a million, but a million dollars should last a LONG time if you plan it properly. With 1 Million dollars, invested properly, can net you around 25-35k/year of interest that you can add to your day job income. With 2.5 Mil, you'd be able to earn 75k/year on the interest easily without even having to do anything. People don't need the type of money that CEO's make, but I'd argue that people do need the products that massive companies like Microsoft makes, so those companies need to make the job interesting to those who can do it well. The fact of the matter is, if you are at the level of being able to run a company like that, companies will be chomping at the bit to get you to run them, at ANY cost. It's like anything else. Supply and demand. The demand for top execs is MASSIVE, but there are a very small group of individuals that have the capacity to do the job at that level.
  9. I've only gone throught a couple pages, so maybe someone pointed this out already, so if that's the case, i apologize. I'm seeing a lot of people commenting about how much per hour this is, and blah blah blah. There were even comments about how some CEO make lower salaries and then take money in stocks. Guess what! So does Satya Nadela. His base salary is 900k. The majority of that "$84 million" IS stock - and what's more, he can't cash it out for years. http://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-ceo-satya-nadella-pay-84-million-2014-10 base salary of $918,917, a cash bonus of $3.6 million, a one-time grant of stock valued at $59.2 million in connection with his promotion to CEO that he will not be able to cash out until 2019, and another one-time stock grant worth $13.5 million given to him in August 2013, to keep him around during the CEO search process. Considering Microsoft is one of the biggest companies on the planet, this payscale is actually pretty low. Sure he got a lot of stocks, but consider the fact that Steve Balmer is now a BILLIONAIRE because of his stocks at Microsoft - Pay expectation at that level is high. These guys don't need to work, they've made enough money to get by. Big companies like that have to make it worth thier time for tallented execs to run a company.
  10. I should have rephrased that. It is an overclocked card from the factory and it outperforms my 970 (which is also overclocked from the factory). what you can get out of it yourself is a moot point. Anyway back on topic. As you can see above, I support the 970 upgrade, and it is indeed a huge performance boost.
  11. I have a 390 here right now, granted it is overclocked, but it outperforms my 970 in every test. In fact it's keeping up with a 980 in almost all tests.
  12. http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/4176646/fs/4189818 You're friend doesn't know what they are talking about.
  13. At the moment no mods to the case, mostly because she's getting impatient. I'd like yo paint it purple with green accents. It may still happen.
