  1. There's no High Definition Audio Device (Realtek?) or Nvidia HD Audio in my device manager. What's more, when I go to configure a custom installation for GPU drivers, the HD audio driver isn't an option where it normally should be. I don't know when this happened, and as a consequence, I have no way to play sound out of the speakers of the TV my PC is connected to. I was able to do that in the past. Where can I find this driver again?
  2. Hello again! It turns out I'm just retarded. I wasn't seating the sticks correctly. Unlike my previous motherboard, the DIMM slots only have one latch, at the top, so I didn't realize you still had to click it in at the bottom. Computer is working for now. I have them in slots where they won't be running in dual channel but at this point, I don't want to fuck with them any more, if they work.
  3. Hello, I was out all day but my computer was still on as I had simply locked it the night before. I got home and it was off, so I tried booting it up and I got put into BIOS after one of those black and white American Megatrends screens telling me something about a RAM overclocking error (I ran my DDR3-1600 at DDR3-2200 without issue). So I tried to lower the clock speed in the BIOS back to 1600 and boot into Windows, but now I noticed my PC would freeze every 15 to 30 seconds indefinitely, requiring a reboot each time. So I took my side panel off and tried reseating my RAM and trying it in each different slot, except now each time it didn't work and booted up with lights on, fans spinning, but no video, and a red LED near my RAM lit up solid called MemOK! DRAM LED. Pressing this each time caused the computer to reboot and then fixed nothing. I'm not sure what to do. Specs: ASUS Z97-A i7 4790k @ 4.6GHz 16GB (2x8, DDR3-1600) Corsair Vengeance LP GTX 1080 Ti Sound Blaster Z One Seagate HDD, three SSDs, OS on a 250GB SSD Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
  4. Hmm. I'll have to keep an eye out for some Kingslayer files; didn't know much about Bolivia before this game but Ubisoft has really created a beautiful world out of it in GRW. Yeah, I don't like how Narco Road focuses on vehicles when driving, arguably, is one of the worst parts of the game. Cars are hard to control. I was a little off-put by the invisible dudes in Fallen Ghosts but for the most part it doesn't seem that bad. I'll have to try and beat that DLC sometime.
  5. I completed the main story, fully upgraded rebel supports, all my skills probably about 7 hours of playtime ago. There's honestly not much more for me to do unfortunately, I don't know how people play for longer. I've been replaying stuff with friends on coop who still haven't beat the entire story. I don't like collecting all the Kingslayer files, seems a little tedious and I'm not too interested in them. DLC is also hit or miss, I dunno. I don't like Narco Road but I might complete Fallen Ghosts. I wish Tier One mode wasn't so bullshit. I was chipping away at it but I'm probably going to stop at Tier 32 now. It's bad enough that it'll slowly start taking astronomical amounts of tier points to rank up, resulting in endless boring grinding, but now the game is locked at extreme difficulty which is terrible. I'm convinced it wasn't tested. You get immediately detected, aimbotted, and killed in a few bullets in mere seconds by any cartel grunt with his two stupid Mac-11s. But without doing Tier One mode, it's like there isn't anything for me to work towards. Not sure what else to do.
  6. I love that game so much! I got it less than a week ago and I've already sunk like 60 hours into it. Been playing almost nonstop. I agree that it's a little tougher to run, but with some tweaks (mostly ultra/high and some lowering of shadows like you say) I seem to be around 144 fps most of the time, except for towns lol. It's a gorgeous game regardless. Maybe it's unoptimized, but I don't know, it looks reeeaaally good. It might just be straight up demanding.
  7. All very interesting. I might just try it out. Yeah, this is the same reason I think I'm the only person on the planet who enjoyed Civilization: Beyond Earth, lmao. The setting does it for me. Might be worth trying after all.
  8. This one is interesting to me. All I remember about Andromeda, when it came out, is the buzz it created about how allegedly horrible it was, for everything from bugs to poor writing to lackluster gameplay. I know I said in the OP that I only care about graphics, but I'm a little apprehensive about this one. How would you address those criticisms? How good is that game, actually? Edit: holy moly I didn't realize how long I had been off of the LTT forums this week. Sorry for the late response! But for everybody who responded, thank you for your recommendations so far. I'll have to reinstall Witcher 3 in particular and I'll to look into AC: Origins.
  9. Hey, so I'm an idiot with computers, but I just finally fixed an issue with my rig that caused my PCIe 3.0 x16 slot to be restricted to x1 speed and thus caused my 1080 Ti to struggle in many games, several of which it shouldn't have had any problems running at very high framerates. But now I'm super excited and have been playing all sorts of games cranked up as high as they can go and basking in the smooth 144fps glory. That being said, what are some good looking games that are preferably on sale due to the holidays that I can throw at this thing? Yes, yes, I know; graphics aren't important, it's the story and gameplay, etc. But right now I just want to take the most gorgeous looking games I can get my hands on and feed them to my GPU for breakfast.
  10. What could be obstructing it? How can I seat it to the left more?
  11. I don't think there are. I don't think the bracket is getting caught either?
  12. What is there to check? I've attached pictures of the PCIe blade and what it looks like plugged in. It kind of looks like it's not in all the way towards the left, but that's how my 980s sat, too. That's as far in as it goes.
  13. What the title says. My card is stuck at x1 and isn't getting desirable performance, likely due to it. I think it's seated in the PCIe lane correctly; I've reseated it several times and pushed it down as far as it can go. My system accommodated two GTX 980s just fine before this, with one in that slot, at x8. And yet GPU-Z and my BIOS are reporting it being at x1, and running a game or GPU-Z's render test doesn't take it out of x1. I can't change the bus speed in my BIOS, only if it's PCIe 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0. What can I do to fix this? I can provide more information if needed.
  14. i didn't want to wait, that's why. also, i'm used to heat and noise, i have two 980s in SLI, come on now. also, yes, aesthetics play a huge part, this is the best reference design nvidia has ever made, FE will always look better than any custom cards
  15. awesome! ditching my 980s in SLI (tired of it not being supported) for a 1080 ti FE that's slated to arrive tuesday. these are cool results. the pascal reference design has the best aesthetics doesn't it?
