  1. if its not atx then they switched up a bunch of pins in the atx 20 pin connector, which is possible. the power supplies are hot swapable and go directly into the motherboard
  2. Today I bought a dell poweredge 2950 II rackmount server from a surplus store. I'm considering trying to put a graphics card in it, for which there are many hurtles. My main concern at the moment is getting power to the card though pice 6 and/or 8 pin power connectors. The front of the unit has hot swap bays for SAS hard drives, which I do not intend to use. powering the back plane for these tray is a 20 pin ATX power connector. Has anyone seen a conversion from ATX 20 pin to PCIe 6 or 8 pin power? if not seen, theoretically possible?
  3. not yet, maybe when they hit $400. ill be sure to drop back on the forums when I do
  4. that's roughly my plain, monitor is top of the list in rig upgrades. id likely keep my current one when I do as an auxiliary, be useful for my wii u
  5. lower the setting etc? Recent graphics card release benchmarks have excluded the 290x, and I haven't gone looking for benchmarks at that resolution
  6. my 290x probs wont make for any high framerate gaming for modern titles, but i can always keep my current monitor
  7. when they his $400 im really gonna have to think about getting one.
  8. i currently have a 1080p acer moniter, 60 hz, Va panel. I definitely could use more space
  9. Ever since Linus published his 21:9 manifesto back at the old office I've been waiting for 3440x1440 to be relatively affordable. this week on ebay there have been several large buy it now posts for such panels at the $500, and if these hold were at half of what they were two years ago. I'm not ready to pull the trigger quite yet, but we are getting much closer. I'm curious how many out there have bout a 1440p ultrawide, and how many are still holding out. how low is low enough?
  10. installed the linked driver, thanks for that. Ill report back in a while if its all good.
  11. I have been trying to pin down the cause of spontaneous blue screening that has been happening on my windows 10 desktop. After configuring proper symbol reporting in winDbg, based on the mini dump its telling me: Probably caused by : rt640x64.sys ( rt640x64!MpProcessSGList+14 ) I Just updated my bios/uefi and am updating more drivers now. I was wondering if anyone has seen this particular flavor of blue screening before and knows anything. board is an ASRock H81M-ITX/WiFi, CPU i7 4790, GPU R9 290x in a sapphire tipple fan
  12. I am trying to run windows XP inside of virtualbox and pass though the graphics for said VM though the graphics portion on my i7-4790. I have found a good amount of articles on PCI pass trough, but my motherboard only has room for my primary graphics card. is there a simple way to do this with vm box? is there some other software that can inside windows 10?
  13. This week I finished up my new gaming rig and steam has been giving me issues. steam is installed on my boot SSD and hence the default game install directory is on it. I created a second directory on my mass storage raid 1 array which worked well. the problem arises every time I restart the machine, as steam forgets the second directory exists. I remind it and I can play my games, but it is very annoying. any ideas with this one? also if someone knows how to make steam actually remember my password that would also help me out.
