  1. artifacts would indicate a GPU failure. If you can test your card in another tower, that would be best to determine that it has died. Dont forget to follow your topics so you can see when every response comes in.
  2. 960 will play it, maxed out, at between 50 and 70 FPS
  3. personally I stick with stores, the convenience of having the goods in my hand immediately and the ease of return if something is DOA. I am in the process of RMAing a Corsair keyboard, that I bought in-store, and I have had to pay the postage to send it back. The stores only offer a limited period for you to return directly to them before they cede responsibility.
  4. when you say you are BSODs like crazy, when do they typically happen? are all drivers updated? The long winded but best problem solving method is to remove everything extraneous (GPU and any connected USBs) and reboot and see if its stable. USe the onboard graphics, Start with one stick of RAM etc and add one piece of hardware at a time to see at what point the instability comes in.
  5. Why insult people?? buying a CX isnt stupid if you are running a basic work desktop, its totally fine for that.
  6. Thanks for the encouragement, thats gratefully received
  7. this is good insight. The reason I thought of starting with PSU covers is so few manufacturers actually make them (ahem ... Corsair). Still its fun designing the one for my case and if I can get the manufacturing done at a good rate it might produce a small profit. I am not very electronically minded .... but with time on my hands I will look into it.
  8. Indeed, this isnt meant to rock the world from day one, more of a side hobby that could turn into something. I am trying to get a list of measurements for the most popular cases, and then I will start designing the covers. Lets see where this goes, it could be fun!
  9. Guys, Due to an ass of a boss, shady as shady can be, I am now unemployed and I was wondering about making a series of PSU covers that will fit a range of cases. I am thinking of offering a selection of standard designs to match each case but with the option of custom designs if needed. Do you think there is a decent market for this sort of case-extra? Its something i will be making for myself so I figured, why not make them in bulk. My nephew has access to a machine shop so I am pretty sure the construction costs can be kept to a minimum. Cheers T
  10. My last monitor died this way ... so double check the LEDs on the monitor, any weird colours or flashings?
  11. go for reds or browns, unless you really love the super clicky blues
  12. check the power to the GPU. It just dying like that is odd. Can you try the card in another rig?
  13. that might be a great option, the prices might be better for you and if she can label it as a gift you might not have to pay customs.
  14. I have used Corsair keyboards in the past, I am on my second K30 which is on its way back for an RMA. While they are well built, I have big concerns with the quality of the software inside them, this has been the weak point for the ones owned by me. I read very good things about the Ducky Shine series of keyboards, perhaps you should look at one of those.
  15. It sounds like the PSU is dying, the CX series is for very basic builds, so its probably time for an updgrade ..... minimum look at the CS series but I would go with an EVGA G2 perhaps.
  16. and she doesnt make the effort to notice it or try and grab it ... the gesture will be lost forever and he will NEVER be believed !!! 'honestly Luv, best choccys in the world, cost me an arm and leg .... and they floated away ... "
  17. This has to be hands-down the best question I have heard so far today .... I dont have the answer, I wish I could help .... but I love teh question. I would go for trial and error ... Am I right in guessing you are trying to impress a lucky girl, I love your romatic description (flowers n chocolate n shit) of how you are going to make her girlish herat do cartwheels ... Good luck
  18. I always uninstall drivers, even if they are unified .... a new card deserves a nice clean driver set
  19. You are right - my comment was more fitting for an other thread that was purely Nvidia based but was hijacked ... I was incorrect in my statement for this thread and apologise ....
  20. I have used it for ages, now I just down to some links to folders, but its high time I added something interesting .. .Rainmeter is pretty awesome.
  21. lovely build (with an SSD for the OS) but remember one key fact .... its huge fun building a PC, enjoy every second Its actually easier than you would think but being a little nervous is a good thing, that way you wont be sloppy in any way!
  22. I used to buy from their stores for a few years, but the rudeness of the staff and their lack of knowlegde made me run for the hills .... I have never bought anything online from them, but I would say they are as good as any at the end of the day. My one lasting impression I had from them was that the customer is the lowest life form out there ...
