Returned the HDD and paid the extra $15 for a 2TB....yeah. Kind of got a very similar problem, though at least it's warning me upfront. Going to do the scan, erase it fully, and see what happens. Because if it survives that without its current pending sector count increasing, then it should actually be OK. BTW ignore the "uncorrectable sector count" warning, those are the default values.
