Odd development after overclocking+stress testing (yes downloading kindle books is stress testing for the Tegra 3) with my old tablet, the aluminium back for the first time ever is doing what it was supposed to do originally-acting like a giant heat spreader. Not only that, the Tegra 3 wasn't thermal throttling either
