  1. 50%?? Ufff that's a nice improvement, i should be able to feel in overall use. Thanks for the info everyone, I'll keep an eye on the 3600, if it does not hit a good enough deal i'll move down to the 2700 or 2600 and see what fits the budget.
  2. Yeah, had that happen before when i share specs, i should really start putting "AMD A10 7700k" instead. Although if black friday/cyber monday deals go well, i might not have that problem for long. Mmm, i'll add the 3600 to the top of the list then, it's on the same bracket as the others price-wise. If it hits a good discount on the holidays i'll probably go for that one.
  3. Hello lads, hope you are having a nice day. For the past several years I've been running a A10 7700K with 8gigs of ram. For the most part it had not been an issue but recently i managed to het a hold of an Oculus Rift and I've been noticing some stuttering and frame drops, specially when the games load certian models or the particle count increases. The recomended specs on the Oculus website put my GPU (An RX 570) somewhere between minimal and recomended so i'm more inlined to blame it on the CPU. I want to go Ryzen since AMD seems to be killing it lately but i'm not sure which offering is going to be the best in terms of price to performance. Currently i'm between the Ryzen 5 2600 or the 1500X; i've seen them both recommended a lot but I'm not very good at comparing CPUs so i wouldn't know for sure which one is the right ticket or if there is a better option in the same price range. Also i was wondering if the VR experience would benefit from more ram? since I will be buying new ram i want to know if it will pay off to go for 16gigs.
  4. Ok, yes but those lack the packaging and convenience(-ish) of the Uff. The idea would be to be able to play with this on the bus / airport or places where a table and a freely accessible electricity outlet are not easy options. However, a medium to small laptop with a good battery capacity can be a solution and, if I cannot find anything else, it would probably have to be it. I would like to be able to mount it to the fightstick tho.
  5. Hello again, wonderful people of this forum. So about a week or so i went to a fighting games tournament. There I saw something so wonderful and simple that made me stand in awe for a few minutes behind a dude practicing for the Dragon Ball turney. Dude had a suction cup phone stand on the edge of his fightstick and a Nintendo Switch on the phone holder end of the stand. A usbc to usb dongle and a Mayflash adapter connected his fighstick to the Switch, completing what was probably the most portable "arcade" setup that i have seen. Artistic rendition: The "Uff 9000" I shall call it. Now, the problem that I have is, I play fighting games on the PC, so buying a Switch and re-buying all of the fighting games + DLC that I already have is a pricey proposition. That and currently there is no Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH ExeLate[st] and many older FG titles on that console. Now, how close can i get to the Uff 9000 with x86 hardware running windows?
  6. Ok, i'll try to get him to switch his buying strategy. Well, thank you all for the help, I'll revise the parts list based on your suggestions and see what happens. Happy new year and once again thank you.
  7. I think i'm going to change the motherbord for a Z170 as @mok suggested. For the graphics card, wouldn't 4GB fall a bit short for handling 4K and 360° 1080p footage? (I often hear that significant amounts of VRAM are necessary for 4K anything, then again i could be wrong). The budget is not a fixed thing, the guy is going to be buying the parts paycheck by paycheck, so he will maybe change the list a little and buy all the parts in the span of about half a year or so.
  8. So i was given the task of picking the parts for a pc that was capable of 360 and 4k video editing. This is what i came up with, however since this is my first workstation-style config, i wanted to get some opinions about it before i gave the list to the friend who asked for my help. So without further ado, here's the list: Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake Quad-Core GeForce GTX 1080 MSI C236A Workstation LGA 1151 Intel C236 ATX Intel Motherboard CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4 SAMSUNG 850 PRO 2.5" 512GB ( or 1TB ) SEAGATE 4TB 7200 RPM HD SEASONIC M12II-750 750w PSU Is it too bad? or was i not too off the mark?
  9. My R9 280X is starting to feel the weight of its age and in any case a decrease on the power bill would be massively appreciated.
  10. So it was recently brought to my attention that my Corsair CX 500 might not be the best to power my system (A10 7700K, GTX 750TI, 1 SSD, 1 HD, 2 sticks of RAM and 4 fans) nor the future upgrades i have planned for it (a R9 280x and maybe more fans). A very nice mate over on the graphics card forum recommended that should I look into Seasoinic's lineup of PSU's. I did, and i found this M12II 620 BRONZE that looks very nice for the money, and i just want to know from you guys if it's a good choice for my system.
  11. Well, i didn't know my PSU was so subpar... thanks for the info guys! Now, what PSU's do you recommend for my system? (PS: shoud i be asking here or in a new post in the PSU category?)
  12. So christmas is upon us and all the little students have managed to amass some cash so that they can buy something nice for themselves. My something nice is hopefully going to a shiny new graphics card. For 1080p and for the price, the 280x is looking very good, however i'm worried about it's thirst for power. I have a Corsair CX 500M powering an A10 7700K, 2 sticks of ram, 4 fans, a SSD, a hard drive and a soon to be gone 750TI. This thing----> http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator says that with the 280x my system would require about 480W, however I want to know if you guys would consider safe running the 280x on my system as is or if a power supply uprage is needed.
  13. A friend of mine is offering me his Vendetta 2 for dirt cheap, but i have been digging around and the product page it only says that it is compatible with am2 sockets. My friend says that it's probably also compatible with my fm2+ but i would really like to be sure before I buy it.
  14. Well thanks for the feedback everyone. I was wondering, how well does the GTX 750 Ti perform in comparison to the R7 260X? Because i was checking the pricelist on some local shops and they are selling it for roughly the same price. Ah and also, what would be best the Gigabyte 750 Ti or the EVGA 750 Ti?
  15. Good morning/evening/night people. Not so long ago i managed to build myself a PC from the money that i saved up during high school. However, i kind of ran out of money and had to cut some corners, and the pc ended up like this: -APU: AMD A10 7700k -MOBO: ASUS A88X-PLUS -RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 2*4GB -HDD: WD Caviar blue 1 TB -PSU: Corsair CX500M -Case: NZXT Phantom 410 As you can see I don't have a dedicated GPU there, so i'm planning to get one for christmas. Problem is I don't really know what's best in the graphics department for the 2000MXN (~148.47USD) mark. I have been eyeballin' a Gigabyte Radeon R7 260X WF2 2GB GDDR5 but i don't want to make any desicions without any advice on the matter.
