  2. Finally sorted it there is a setting in bios labelled "PCI rom priority" after switching that to legacy it works. Thanks for the suggestions. now to sort out windows
  3. it currently has no hdd or anything other then the card plugged in. With the card in i cant even get into the bios. even with the monitor connected to the motherboard. just no post no beeps at all just the fans spinning
  4. trying it all out of the case did not help. I tried both slots. I even tried different ram. I booted into bios using the 6970 and confirmed the bios settings i then shut it down swapped cards and tried again but still no post no beeps or anything. if it wasnt for the card working in my pc I would say it was the card. I hate it when you help someone out and it goes bad.
  5. No I looked for that as my 6970 had a bios switch. I am in the process of trying it all out of the case. Im even considering pulling the psu out of my computer to test it.
  6. I tried a different PCIe power cable didnt help. I also tried a seperate cable for each plug on the video card. I then tried unplugging all hdd's etc still nothing. will updating the bios help? the fact my 980 works makes me think it wont.
  7. Nexus 6P 5.7 inches 1440 x 2560(~518 ppi), Snapdragon 810, 3 GB RAM, 64GB, 3450 mAh battery.
  8. I went from a iphone 4 to and HTC M7 and felt the M7 was huge why would anyone want a larger phone. I was looking at getting the Nexus 5x but my carrier had a deal to get the 6P for the same price as the 5x. While I have got used to the size of the 6P I still feel it is too big and I have large hands. Saying that though I just lent my iphone to a friend who had hers stolen and that thing is so tiny I don't know how I used it. I will probably go back to a 5ish inch phone next. I usually keep a phone for 2-3 years so hopefully battery tech has gotten better and smaller phones come back.
  9. Nice write up. I feel like I got a unicorn 6P as I dont have any major issues with mine. I cant say I have noticed what you are talking about with the headphone jack. but then I am only using "cheaper" headphones, Ostrey kc06a's, so I wonder if they are not sensitive enough to pick up the noise you are describing. I also find the volume level fine I only ever turn it up to 3/4 volume, but that is probably the headphones again. I do find with the cable in my car it does sometimes not want to plug in all the way and I have to unplug it and try again, I just assumed its because its an old worn cable. The main annoying thing I am getting is about once a day I pull the phone out of my pocket and the fingerprint unlock is not available, so I have to put in my password. I think its the feature that wakes the screen up when you pick the phone up triggering in my pocket, because a few times I hear it dialling a number in my pocket and its dialling an emergency number. Battery live is also about the same as my M7 was.
  10. the leds next to the pcie power plugs are lit up green so I assume they have power. I will try using a different pci power lead. Its using the original hdd running windows 7
  11. the card will not fit in that one the case is in the way. also other cards are working in that slot
  12. Hey I'm helping a guy from work upgrade his computer. I helped him pick a 2nd hand graphics card and I gave him my old CPU, motherboard, case and PSU and am having issues getting it to boot. The hardware is MB - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 CPU - intel 2500k RAM - 12gb ddr3 1333 that he had from old computer GPU - ASUS R9-280x Matrix PSU - Corsair hx-650 The issue I'm getting is with the GPU plugged in there is no output to the monitor. List of things I have tried GPU to monitor via DVI - no go (tried both DVI plugs) GPU to monitor via VGA - no go GPU to monitor via HDMI - no go MB to monitor via DVI with GPU in - no go MB to monitor via DVI without GPU in - works gpu to different monitor - no go old HD6970 - works 280x in different computer - works 980 - works with the card out I have tried setting it to display from "PEG" first but it still will not work. I thought that perhaps it was because it had a old AMD card in it so already had catalyst driver installed so I uninstalled them but made no difference. that also should not stop it from booting. I don't think its even posting with the 280x in as there is no beeps I thought perhaps bios needed updating as its an older board with a newer card but then the 980 worked. anyone have any ideas of what to try next? Thanks
  13. Hi. Im having an issue where I have no audio after my computer wakes from sleep. There is also something else happening where anything that makes sound lags. eg if I. try play a youtube video it is in slow motion. There is only no audio to my monitor which is connected via displayport. if I plug in my headphones i have audio through them, Video also plays smoothly again. when I unplug them I have no audio again. I Have tried unplugging both my monitors and cycling the power on them but still have no audio. I have also deactivated all playback devices and then reactivated the monitor, but that also does not help. The only thing I have found that works is restating the computer. I have tried a few different nvidia drivers but they all have the same HD audio version so that made no difference. Im not sure if it has been happening since I switched to windows 10. I actually had an issue where the computer would not sleep at all for a while. I have tried searching but all the results I have found are from 2012 so I doubt its the same issue. My computer specs should be below.
  14. Hey I just set up my old computer with mint 17.2 Cinnamon and im a bit of a noob with it I am having issues getting my display to work properly. If I use my main monitor (asus 1440p) it will not let me set over 1689x1050. If I use my 2nd monitor it lets me set 1080p but it is over scanned. Im wondering if I need to update the graphics driver but I cannot work out how to do that. Im using the onboard graphics of my 2500k. it is detecting the graphics card as intel 2nd generation core... so that seems correct. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: I just remembered that the 2500k cannot output 1440p over DVI. so thats the issue with the first monitor sorted. Also should note that my 1080p monitor is just a cheap viewsonic and does not allow changing display size in the menu over HDMI. Edit x2: I just found in the input select menu on the monitor it lets you select between AV and PC. Switching it to PC stopped the overscanning.
