  1. http://www.engadget.com/2015/05/27/hot-topic-is-buying-thinkgeek/ ThinkGeek, renowned purveyor of merchandise aimed at PC enthusiasts, gamers, programmers, and geeks for the past 15+ years has been bought out by the infamous and often-mocked Hot Topic for $122 million. "Hot Topic CEO Lisa Harper believes that it's a good fit, since both companies share a strategy of 'delivering great products for avid fans of various licensed properties.'" RIP ThinkGeek.
  2. @LinusTech - You should review the CH Products Combatstick (Amazon US, Amazon CA) and the CH Products Pro Throttle (Amazon US, Amazon CA). The first typically runs $80 - $100 USD and the other $100 - $125 USD, so that would put this combo right in the $200 price range of the Saitek x55. They might not be as "fancy" as the Saitek, but they are top-notch quality. CH Products is a small family-owned company and they have made these products from something like 20 years (they pre-date USB). You could probably throw them off your porch.
  3. I don't like how the mouse just appears out of nowhere, it should move and/or fade into place. Also, I don't like the transition from desktop to headphones. Everything else is morphed from the previous, but for this one you turn the desktop into lines that vanish followed by the appearance of the headphones. Why can't the headphones be morphed from the desktop. Seems like this would flow better. Also, "We tech things seriously." is definitely > "Cool Ideas. Great Videos."
  4. I've looked at Ting in the past and I'm also a 2%. I think that basically it comes down to: if you're a "heavy" (3+ GB) data user, Ting is probably either barely cheaper or more expensive. Last time I priced Ting for my family (3 phones) it would have been slightly cheaper than my Sprint plan... until you consider the cost of upgrading all 3 phones every 2 years to the newest flagship. If you're a lighter user though I would definitely suggest giving them a try, I've heard they have crazy awesome support (though I've honestly been very happy with Sprint's support personally so *shrug*) and have some very dedicated fans.
  5. It really needs to be more than their stated 32GB of storage. That will go so incredibly fast when installing PC games. It's not like the chips to provide more are that expensive.
  6. I'm going to disagree strongly with this. The controller is one of the often advertised differentiating features of SSDs. I don't buy Samsung SSDs expecting to get any random controller, I expect Samsung's controller. It would be like a mechanical keyboard switching from Cherry Reds to a "red switch". Maybe the new switch performs just as good or better, but that's not why I bought that keyboard, I expected the particular brand of switch. If you want to make a major change to a product like this, give the product a new name. Even just a simple "ProductX v2" would do.
  7. 1. Are there cases coming with a style different than blocky HAF cases? COSMOS looks nice but the competitors have better features #LTTCMLIVE 2. CM partnered with Swiftech for the Glacer 240L for great effect. Is the 360 also from that partnership? More designs coming? #LTTCMLIVE
  8. I've never relied on an iGPU before, so I'm not sure what to recommend to my mother-in-law. She has an old AM2 nForce motherboard (for the curious, this one) that is showing symptoms of the iGPU dying. Now, obvisouly I could just have her buy a cheap graphics card (it does support PCI-E). But my worry would be... is that just slightly delaying the inevitable? If the iGPU is dying, does that foreshadow the whole mobo dying? I doubt it would even be worth trying to swap mobos for such an old chipset. I mean, you can get an entire new system for less than $300 these days and it's not like you need much power to check your email. So, what would you recommend she do? Cheap graphics card or cheap new computer?
  9. atrash, do you have any trouble with cord tangles? Every one I've had that did not have flat cables has been a tangle nightmare for me.
  10. So, I guess the only ones who do this are me and Linus? Because the only recommendation has been what Linus has used - IE80s for $450 or Flux Pros for $100.
  11. Except I sleep with my wife on one side of me and my 6 month old in a crib on the other. Yeahhh.... IEMs are a must.
  12. I've done it for a while. Started out using the earbuds that came with my HTC One (M7). They were a bit large and eventually broke, so I picked up the Sennheiser CX 200. Those didn't stick out as much, but were overall not as comfortable somehow. The most annoying problem with them, though, is they don't have a non-tangle cord. That gets very annoying very quickly. I'm looking to try something else now, so I'm curious what others may use who do this. I know Linus has said he likes using the Steelseries Flux Pros, but I'm a little hesitant to drop 100 on a new pair when I haven't had very good luck thus far.
  13. Mostly storage and my steam games. I want it fast since I've become addicted to the speed of SSD's. It's not like it will be used for something crazy like video editing, but I do work with large files for image editing. I might also throw some lesser used programs on it. I have a nice SSD already that I'm going to use for the primary drive for my OS and daily programs.
