Don't use Arctic Silver 5. It performs pretty much the same as cheaper alternatives, and it's conductive so there's a risk of damaging components with it. MX-4 and MX-2 are the ones I use, but there's such little difference between TIM that I'd just go for a non-conductive one that's fairly cheap.

well just got done a intense modding session! This was pretty nerve-racking as the bottom piece on the top shell is fragile with so little plastic left ,an will be fragile until i epoxy the grill insert in.still have some finish sanding before I can do the grills.
I am really stoked on how it all came out ,gives it that gaming pc vibe now I should be able to clock my gpu to its limit now, since it is going to be getting fresh air from out side the case pretty much now!
    measurements done

    pilot holes drilled

    1 inch holes drilled

    plastic cut out

straight edge in place ready for sanding

close up of finished product ,still finish sanding to do another day

this is the scary part here,I was holding my breath cutting and sanding this part

    My rads have finally come!

I went with Alphacool because of the multi-port options:

Only problem is the plugs that come with the rads are copper - those will be getting sprayed black. Nice to see them ditching the ugly copper stickers too - last time I removed one it peeled half of the paint off with it.

I'm going to have to get some longer M3 screws before I can stack my rads.. The only screws I have the right length are M4.

I've said before that this build is going to be incredibly tight...

I can now confirm just how tight it will be:

    Tight.

I had to remove the cooler to fit the card in, so those of you under 18 please cover your eyes for the next picture as it contains full frontal nudity.

Best get her covered up, back and front!

I have to say, those water blocks and backplates are what sold me the 770s. The fullest full cover blocks out there and they just look so clean. None of that circle crap EK tried to pull off in the past.

Hi all, i'm posting this modding, it's the first i made so it wouldn't be so nice and please sorry for the language, i'm italian and i'm studing english at school.
So, i'm here with an ambitious project, mod an OEM case to make it cool and fresh.
I'm calling it the "Black Side of the Modding" because it will be completely black, interior and exterior, and more because i really like Pink Floyd, as you will see on the render down below.
So let's start with the project photos.

Project: Black Side of the Modding

Here there are all the components:
    CPU:Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
    CPU Cooler:Schythe Katana 4
    MoBo: Biostar TPower I45
    RAM:Corsair Dominator DDR2 2x1GB
    VGA:Sapphire 5850 1GB
    HDD:2x Western Digital's SATA HDD
    PSU:LC-Power 6650GP3 V2.3

    Here are the first photos:

This is the front, it looks terrible for me! I have some ideas, firstly i thought to fiberglass all the front and then cut it to make space for a 120mm fan. Then i realised that it would have been to time consuming and for a beginner it won't became a good job. So i left with this idea. Then i thinked more and i have made a render on Google's SketchUp and here it is:

I like very much this idea. Then some my friends told me that i could have reversed the I/O panel, making it a reversed ATX. So they lend me a render and here is it:

In the future i may be going with watercooling but firstly im going with air, so i need to make a good airflow because the 5850 Sapphire blows all the air in the case. So in the front i will make holes for 2 120mm fan and another two on the top.

I'm also going to make a window on the panel, i want it big an clear, but i prefer it smoked, like the front one which is going to cover the fan controller i will made and the fans which will be behind.

    This is actually the internal...

I have taken off the 3.5" bays and the hard drive will be on the 5.25" bays so i will have more space for cable management and air flow.

There are some photos of the naked case:

(The measure system is metric, so in the front i have to cut one of the 5.25" bays to make space for the other 120mm fan...)

And these are the photos with the reversed atx layout:

Then i cut the side panel(needs to be filed) :

And i riveted the parts, and it's starting to look good!

Now i need to wait for some parts to came from a friend ho makes laser cuts...

How does it looks to you?

power extension cables in case you need to run some of the computers from outlets in other rooms because you tripped the breaker..... >_>
One or two decent sized folding tables (or more depending on how many people will be there)
at least 1 Cat5 cable per attendee (recommend that they bring their own)
    chips, drinks, assorted snacks
main meal such as pizza delivery ($5-$10 pitch-in amount per attendee)
unmanaged switch that can support the amount of people you plan on hosting
Enough space in the location you plan on hosting the LAN party

Maybe you could pay Linus for sleep, too.

    On a side note :
Build this machine (Could probably do it in 3 years when stuff is cheaper and I probably will have a job by then.)
    http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1NaDO ($2286.40 as of 10/10/13)
    Get a 240SX ($1K - 10K)
Turn it into a Drift missile ($5K-$20K)
Put the rest in a bank because interest.
