    You could try reinstalling drivers.

    You could always run it in something like VMware workstation if your hardware doesn't end up being compatible. I have Mavericks running on my 3930k through VMware fine.

    Backlighting and protection. A lot of people don't run 3 monitors, either. I would however like very thin bezels, I think having it on the bottom and the sides and not extruding would be pretty cool.

    I think this with 4GB of RAM should be enough, also Ubuntu should suit her needs. 8GB if you want to spend a little more.

    I use RealTemp as well. HWMonitor works good for graphics cards, too.

    It should, PCPartPicker tells you if something is incompatible, and it's pretty accurate most of the time.

    This is very important. It's a bad idea to set a laptop on deep carpet which is blocking any intake/out grills, try putting it in an open area, say on a wooden table with nothing around it. A laptop cooler might help as well.

    You should call Microsoft and tell them, they will deactivate the key on that PC so you can use it again.

    They might ship it without coolant, I've never bought a pre-built desktop before so I can't say. You could always try their live support.

    It's not that I mind torrenting, I think most people would prefer a legal source straight from Microsoft. I also don't want any legal issues with the forum.

    I'm looking for an unactivated ISO of Windows 95/98, like Windows 7. I'm not sure if this is possible. You can currently download Windows 7 from Microsoft themselves, but you can't get updates past a certain time period. I'm curious as to if this is possible for older OSes. I'm not asking for pirate links, either. I also want to run these in VMware for testing, and just having the OS for general purpose.

    Why Asus? They're one of my go-to companies for many products.

    It's not really the games that most people hate, it's them as a corporation. That's not to say they haven't made a few bad games, though.
