  1. i wouldn't even say that, i think you have to be careful to be labeling things more skill than other things. It being more team focused doesn't make it demand less skill. Also, i think "skill" is too ambiguous of a term. You criticize something for not having enough skill and no one knows specifically what you're complaining about. Maybe saying the combat isn't very dynamic is a better criticism. Or maybe that kills don't feel as earned as they do in some shooters. -edit- also, i'm fairly sure you had to be really smart to be good in Quake and CS, there is a lot of strategy in both those games. Overwatsh is just more forgiving with regard to some classes and aiming skills.
  2. yeah, idk, this is why i don't like watching overwatch. You really don't have OMG moments. I mean, you get a 5k in comp CSGO or team Quake and it would be awesome skillfull play on your part. But like if you get a 5k in Overwatch is just because of an ultimate and it is more about the other team failing to react to it or you getting incredibly lucky, than any skill on your part. IDK, I feel like i don't understand a large chunk of the industry that goes, "OMG look at that kill!" and its just like a cool animation happened at that kill or something. Its like they don't understand the difference between a skilled kill and a flashy kill or just prefer flashy kills to skilled ones.
  3. Idk, i've never seen motion controls used in a gamepad before. Just in like wand form with the wii and like the ps4 version. I'm skeptical, we will see. As for just making the old pro controller compatible. The old pro controller wasn't a very good controller period. Two analog sticks on the top on both sides? what were they thinking? I just want a good controller at a reasonable price. Not a price that can be justified through gimmicks. As for the DisplayPort alt-mode USB Type C HDMI hub being on sale: With electronics an electronic comes out, when its brand new, its expensive. After the tech is old, it goes on "sale" Its not like a GTX 970 is really still worth $650 and they're all just on sale now for $350. Unless its some holiday or maybe a singular brand is having a special sale, when there is more than one brand's version of a specific item, its typically because the item has become worth less. This isn't some menial small percentage discount, this is the price dropped to a third of what it was, and its not like there is some holiday or anything to justify some kind of massive sale.
  4. @skywake I guess the question is how many people are really going to appreciate having motion controls in a gamepad? I think most people would prefer a $10 cheaper gamepad without NFC and motion controls. The general consensus appears to be that the controller doesn't feel as solid and the xbox one's. I don't think you can call what comes in the box has 2 legitimate tv console controllers. Using them as controllers for 2 seperate people appears as more of a gimmick to allow easy mobile multiplayer. And that they aren't meant as two seperate and legitimate console controllers. Input is so important for gaming and we don't know which input will turn out the best. But what if the most natural controller for you and your friends are the joypads attached to the charging grip? Then it comes with 1 controller and you have to spend $110 per friend that wants to use it. Plus have you ignored the color schemes? Clearly Nintendo plans to sell limited edition versions of the joycons of different colors to get people to buy many of them. Also, especially with the extremely limited supply in the first wave of Switches, i defiantly don't think you can just assume most households will have multiple switches. companies selling something comparable to the dock for $30 and you don't think $90 is outlandish? i disagree.
  5. I will be getting it. It seems like Nintendo is the only true console anymore. Sony and Microsoft are just PC wannabees with their consoles. Constantly trying to play catch up with the much more powerful, popular, and profitable PC GAMING. But Nintendo knows its place and focuses on making a unique wholly Nintendo gaming experience. I don't know how much i'll be investing in it. Seems like the controllers are kind of stupid expensive and not crazy about having to pay for online. Or having to use my smartphone to use voice chat. First step is to see just how good these controllers are.
  6. yep, i totally agree. It seems like Nintendo is the only true console anymore. Sony and Microsoft are just PC wannabees with their consoles. Constantly trying to play catch up with the much more powerful, popular, and profitable PC GAMING is. But Nintendo knows its place and focuses on making a unique wholly Nintendo gaming experience.
  7. For US Prices the pro controllers are $70, as opposed to xbone and ps4 controllers being $60. 116% the price. Which is pretty bad because the pro controller looks much cheaper in quality imo. But what is really bad is If you want a 2nd controller like the one that comes with the switch, its $110, it would cost you nearly double what an official microsoft one or ps4 controller would cost. Finally, whats the worst is the charging dock. $90 to be able to plug your Switch into another place and charge it. I also think that people are more upset with the Nintendo controller prices because i think Nintendo fans are more likely to use their console for local multiplayer than PS4 or Xbone fans, so they are going to be forced to pay ALOT for these controllers. What i'm personally most concerned about is the online subscription they want to get people to play. As i'm primarily a PC gamer, i don't think i would use it enough to justify spending even $5 a month on it. I also hate recurring expenses like a passion.
  8. hmmm, i pre ordered the switch, i wonder if i should pre order Zelda as well. There aren't many Switches being released, right? i wonder if i need to worry about zelda being sold out. -edit- fuck it, pre ordered it.
  9. So the thing is, ALOT depends on just how good the controllers are. I could see the ARMs game being super fun or I could see it being totally useless depending on just how well the controllers work. Also, how long do those controller's batteries last? They're tiny so i can't see them having a very large battery and lasting that long... So how long can you actually game with them? I have serious doubts about many ps4 or xbone games being ported to the Switch. I mean, i don't think devs are going to want to butcher the visuals to get it to run and a far less powerful console. Also, i imagine Sony and Microsoft sponsored games won't be ported just because of competition. Plus, even in the absolute best case scenario, the Switch's userbase will be way smaller than the xbone and ps4 for like at the very least 3 years, so there would be even less incentive to port to the switch. I do however see a lot 3ds devs going to the switch, so i think we're going to see a lot of those types of games available on the platform. Another concern is that the switch only has 32gb of internal storage... Goodluck having any kind of digital library... I mean, in this day and age, I don't see how they can justify that in a full console, PCs have that much RAM... The optional controller seems absurdly expensive and nothing special. With all that said, i pre ordered it. Considering it is both a mobile console and a full console, I can see how the price is justified. Supply is limited, i figure if i don't want it at launch, i can probably just sell it and make at least $75.
  10. yeah, i spent most of today looking at AIOs and custom loop kits. I think i'm going to stick with an air cooler. It just doesn't seem like liquid cooling is at the reliability i would want from it. Seems like there are way too many failure points. And if it fails, virtually anything can be bricked.
  11. So i'm looking to get an all in one and i'm not in a big rush, planning to get a Zen cpu if it benchmarks well and will use it for the new cpu. And I want a really durable and reliable one. My budget isn't super strict, but i was hoping to spend not much more than $200 on the AIO. I only have room for a 240mm radiator. And ideally i would prefer no flashy lights. So the first AIO that looks really promising is the EK Predator 240; seems very well built, very good performer, looks good, but everywhere i look its sold out. So looking for other high performers I see maybe the Cryorig A40 Ultimate, the The Swiftech H 220X, and the Fractal Kelvin S24 (i also can't find this on sale anywhere). Are there any other high quality AIOs i'm missing that you could recommend? Do you think unavailability of the EK Predator 240 or Fractcal Kelvin S24 are temporary enough where i would probably be able to get one closer to the launch of Zen? Any recommendations from this list or black balls? If anyone wonders why the NZXT Kraken X52 isn't on the list, its because the tubes block one of the ram slots.
  12. i guess another concern would be if i did an all in one and put a radiator in the front intake, wouldn't it hinder the cooling of everything other than the cpu? like espcially i think m.2 drives like to overheat.
  13. so there are a lot of coolers that seem like you could fit 3 large fans on, 1 on either side and 1 in the middle, but i don't really see anyone doing that...
  14. What fans would you recommend for either scenario? The problem with water cooling is the installation outside of all in one's and all in one's really don't seem to perform better than air.
  15. Yes, I have a computer with that case already, will be replacing 6 year old CPU, Mobo, ram, and CPU cooler.
  16. Cooling then reliability then noise. Another reason I'm leaning towards not an all in one is potentially more parts to fail. As for CPU, idk yet, going to wait for Zen to shake things up. Probably either a Zen or an i7.
  17. So with my case, a radiator would have no larger than 2 120mm fans. Plus there would be the pump noise. If I got a premium air cooler it would be 2 larger fans and no pump noise.
  18. am definitely thinking about an all in one as well. But figured i want to know the best air cooler options as well. Also, the impression i've gotten is that all in ones tend to be louder then the premium air coolers.
  19. only realistic limitation is my case only supports up to 190mm.
  20. idk, couldn't it just be that they don't want to give intel time to adjust their pricing. The more compelling it is to buy AMD the day it launches, the better the PR. bulldozer was a bad architecture, and it has taken AMD this long to design a new one, but there is really no reason why this one should not be at least comparable to Intel in price and performance.
  21. ok, i missed you correcting yourself, my bad.
  22. so your interpretation is that instead of saying " Hallock did give a glimpse at when not to expect Ryzen, this quarter " it makes perfect gramatical sense to say "Hallock did give a glimpse at when not to expect Ryzen, which will launch this quarter"? Also, if he already said it wasn't going to launch this quarter, isn't it redundant to say it won't launch the last day of the quarter? Come on, man, just admit you fucked up. Also the am4 mobos are announced to release before the end of March, so they're just going to release motherboards with no working cpus?
  23. your quote specifically says it will launch this quarter. It will launch this quarter, and they don't mean the last day, is what your source says...
  24. the most frutrating thing about this is there are articles like "x370 and x300 mobos unveiled" and then they won't show a single x300 mobo.... You motherfuckers and you wonder why i adblock your ass...
