  1. Great video. One point though. OS X (in my experience) is meant to be used with a touchpad and I think Linus should have sprung for the Magicpad (or whatever the f*** it's called) and see how he liked it. I personally would never use a Mac as my desktop/work machine. However I do have a Macbook Pro Retina 15" which continues to serve me well. I would be interested to see Linus' take on the laptop experience of OS X and Mac's in general. I thinks he'd enjoy it more on a laptop due to macbooks generally being (IMO) a better all rounder than other laptops. Macbooks still have the best trackpad I have ever used in terms of feel and usability and the screen on the retina model is absolutely gorgeous and was one of the first hi-res displays on a laptop. the superior wifi card (dual band mimo 3x3) and battery life (~12hrs on the Air) would certainly help as well.
  2. I'd upgrade my AMD 6 core (Phenom II X6 1055t) and kick some serious ass with multitasking and a bit of streaming.
  3. It's still not working after trying that. In the device manager, the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface cannot start (Code 10). I'm not sure if this is the cause. Also, typing ipconfig into Command Prompt returns "Windows IP Configuration" and no further info like I'm used to.
  4. Hello friends, I recently purchased a wifi card for my pc (TP-Link WDN4800). I was under the impression that the nic on my mobo was fried hence the purchase. I installed the device and the accompanying software/drivers and the card seems to be working perfectly. However, whatever network I connect to the network settings say "Limited Access" once it's connected. I've done some research on this issue and a few seem to be having it. All the solutions I have tried though haven't worked. All my drivers are up to date. Your help is greatly appreciated. For reference, my specs: AMD Phenom II x6 1055t Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 8GB Corsair XMS3 1333MHz Gigabyte Radeon 6770 TP-Link WDN4800 Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
  5. I found LTT through the NCIX channel when I was building my first PC (which I'm still running) in 2010. That's when I started to find my love for technology and all things hardware related. Keep up the great work, guys! Here's to a million more!
  6. The sound enhancement is definitely a plus for me. I'm all for a good sounding laptop.
  7. My favourite thing about the G3 is the laser auto-focus. 1440p screens are great and all but the laser auto-focusing is much more innovative for me and shows that LG is trying something new.
  8. I really wish they kept the OIS on the camera. I also hope they fixed the purple hue issue as it ruins pics I take. Other than those 2 nitpicks, best phone at the moment. MUCH WANT!!
  9. Nest, the company behind the Nest Thermostat and the recently released Nest Protect, has been bought by Google for $3.2 Billion. So far Google has said that Nest will remain independent (like Motorola) but we'll have to wait and see what the the future holds for Nest. Oddly enough, the founders of the company Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers were on the original iPod team at Apple, which is where some of the Nest Thermostat's features originate (click wheel). It will be interesting to see how google services will integrate with current and future Nest products. It's possible we may see Android integration though I think the current apps will be continued to be offered. There have been some jokes cracked already about sharing your set temperature on Google+ or having to sign in with Google+ to do anything. 10. The installer was pulled from the Play Store for "encouraging users to void their warranty." The app can still be downloaded from the CyanogenMod website and side-loaded onto the phone. This increases the steps it takes to install the custom ROM and will affect its distribution, similar to how the Twitter client Falcon Pro was pulled on account of Twitter's token limit. I don't think the app will be allowed back into the Play Store due to the warranty voiding issue, though to be fair there are apps in the Play Store that require ones phone to be rooted to make full use of the app. It will be interesting to see if this restriction matters much seeing as they have been teasing a new hardware partner (Oppo?) for a week or so. Not to mention that the Vice President of Oppo left and is now with the CyanogenMod team. Needless to say, the next few months for CyanogenMod will be interesting. 11. Fractal Design Core 1000 is a pretty good case. It's around $40 or so. Also a good idea to spend a bit more on the RAM, since the gpu needs to use it. If it's possible to get 1866 or higher it would be good.
  12. I have a 750 watt non-modular Ultra psu. The 8-pin cpu cable is too short to go around the back of the tray, Hence it must come out in front of my mobo to reach.
  13. Samsung has launched a slew of new devices with their "Galaxy" name. Galaxy S4 Mini: http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/20/galaxy-s-4-mini-hands-on/ A lower specced and smaller version of the popular Galaxy S4. This version has a 4.3 inch qHD display 8MP camera and a 1.7GHz dual-core processor. Galaxy S4 Zoom: http://www.technobuffalo.com/videos/samsung-galaxy-s4-zoom-hands-on/ Essentially an S4 Mini with a 16MP 10x capable zoom camera on the back. Galaxy S4 Active: http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/20/samsung-galaxy-s4-active/ An S4 designed to handle a rougher lifestyle. The internals are the same, however the outside sees some changes. Namely an LCD display in place of the S4's Super AMOLED display, 3 hardware buttons on the bottom and a flap covering the micro-usb port. the device also has more heft to it. Galaxy NX: http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/20/samsung-galaxy-nx-camera-hands-on/ A full 20.3MP mirrorless camera running Android 4.2.2 and Galaxy S3 internals. The back is a 4.8 inch 1280x720 display from the Galaxy Camera. The camera has full LTE and wifi making uploading photos easier when on the go. These new devices are interesting additions and will rake in even more income for the Korean giant. I don't think that the Galaxy NX will be a very popular device, as photographers who are serious about their pictures will chose to go with Canon or Nikon anyways. However, the Galaxy S4 Zoom seems like a viable addition for the enthusiast who need a quick point and shoot but wants much better pictures than can be offered any current smartphone. However these users will also not care too much for form factor due to the Zoom's relatively thick body. The S4 Mini will most certainly compete with the rumoured HTC One Mini and will likely also handily outsell the One the same way it's big brother is doing right now.
  14. Looks good. Less cartoonish and much more professional. Me like xD
