  1. Ya it was a reddit post a while back. The guy took his GPU and adapter to Micro Center and the Micro Center technicians verified that the adapter was fully inserted and then separated the two for him. Thankfully Micro Center helped him with the replacement and he bought extended warranty on the new replacement. He also had pictures of it before he took it into the store. I tried looking for the post, but I can't find it at the moment.
  2. One of the connectors, 3rd from the top is almost fully intact with only 2-3 millimetres from the top having melted, by your logic the connector was only plugged in 2-3 millimetres. I think if you are going to make an argument here, you should at least try using some common sense. Frankly I should've taken some pictures of the connector fully seated in the socket before I pulled it out, so people such as yourself wouldn't have any ammunition to pass the blame to the user. At the time however I was more focused on why the PC was randomly rebooting. Thankfully there have been others who have taken pictures of the adapter fully seated in the GPU that were still melted.
  3. Been building PCs since 1993, trust me, it was about as plugged in as it could get.
  4. Launched a game this morning on my day off only to be met with a system reboot. After the second random crash/reboot upon game launch, I decided to take the system apart starting with the GPU and well...ya melted GPU 12HPWR plug on the ASUS 4090 TUF. I had a CableMod adapter and cable connected to it, that was supposed to prevent this very thing from happening but I guess it didn't work. I bought an extended 2 year warranty from my local retailer Memory Express which the sales guy told me at the time would cover this issue and it would be an over the counter exchange. I called them today and the manager told me, it was considered physical damage and basically the extended warranty was void. Does anyone know if ASUS still replaces the GPUs when the connector melts?
  5. Apparently some tech websites have been blacklisted from getting the AMD Nano due to their supposed bias. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2015/09/09/amd_roy_taylor_nano_press#.VfEaFvRlGSo
  6. I am also in the same boat. I'm glad they are taking their time in releasing it. Hopefully that means there will be no major issues with it when it is finally released.
  7. I have the 42 mm version of the watch Linus reviewed here and I can't seem to agree with literally anything he said. He was completely off point on almost all of the stuff he said. Battery life on the watch easily lasts me a good day with around 25% remaining before midnight. The screen regularly comes on as soon as I so much as move my wrist or hand. The "Hey Siri" function is also rather flawless unless I'm in a very noisy environment. I can just keep going here... My major issue with the watch (which incidentally he didn't even mention) is the slowness of the apps since they run on the iPhone instead of the watch. I'm waiting to see how Apple deals with this issue with the next version of watchOS. They claim all the apps will be run natively on the watch which would significantly improve performance but we will have to wait and see. I get the impression from watching Linus that he has an irrational hatred for Apple. I've seen this from a lot of people in tech circles since I started building my own PCs in the early 1990s. They hate anything that is Apple with a great deal of intensity and complete lack of objectivity. Ironically I also have some Apple fanboy friends who are the exact opposite. In their eyes Apple can do no wrong, which also kind of annoys the heck out of me. In short Linus's experience is an exact opposite of mine thus far with the watch. Enough said.
  8. Excellent overview of what's coming out!
  9. Depending on the game I get anywhere between 40 to 100 FPS on games like Witcher 3 and GTA 5, with almost everything maxed out. I honestly think that I may need a second Titan X if I want to keep things consistently above 60 FPS. I like playing with v-sync on which is why I want to upgrade to a G-sync monitor.
  10. I'm also waiting for this monitor. Currently using a Samsung PLS 27" display at 1440p 60Hz. I'm really liking what I am seeing with this monitor, specially if they get the refresh rate up to 100Hz. Hopefully my single Titan X can handle it.
  11. I'm thinking of either getting this or the ASUS PG279Q. If the Predator X34 has a 100Hz refresh rate, then I will opt for it instead of the ASUS one. Please post a quick review when you get the monitor
  12. I'm one of the people who pre-ordered the game. The only reason I did so was because of this company's reputation as a PC centric developer. I won't be preordering their games from this point on.
  13. I've ordered lots of stuff from them in the past with no issues. One thing however that I don't buy from them are Monitors/TVs. They have a really bad return policy when it comes to dead pixels. My current monitor I bought from Memory Express, and I am glad that I did. The first two I picked up had dead pixels and Memory Express exchanged them for me with no questions asked.
  14. I would suggest a Titan X. I recently went from a 980 to a Titan X due to the fact that some of the new games (GTA 5, etc) do need more than 4 GB of VRAM. I was thinking of going with another 980 but then I remembered all the issues I had with SLI (mostly lack of profiles at game launch, minor stuttering, etc.) with my 8800GTS SLI, 260 SLI and 680 SLI systems.
