  1. as long as I stay within the range of $3200 for the whole build I'll be okay
  2. What would be a good option for a workstation board? I used to own the new mac pro cylinder and that ran fine with 64 gbs of ram but the graphics performance was horrible so I decided to build a pc. I was thinking of getting the asrock x99 motherboard just because the read and write speeds on the M.2 port are 1gbps but the price tag for ddr4 memory is difficult. would using the Plextor M6e Series 256GB yield the same results in terms of boot time? looking for 10 seconds or less.
  3. I need it because I run a lot of instances of Kontakt a sampler that uses lots of ram for it's libraries such as violins, pianos, drums etc etc I do a little music on the side haha yeah sorry! /facepalm myself to death
  4. Ah thnx I didn't know that. I'm trying to find a good motherboard that supports 64 gb of ram , and M.2 slot + lots of usb ports So far I've found the asrock x99 extreme6 but that is ddr4 memory. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20Extreme6/ The reason I like M.2 is the 4 - 10 second boot time.
  5. I just noticed my grammar mistake compatible ! * Does this motherboard support 64 gbs of ram? mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157500&cm_re=Z97_Extreme6-_-13-157-500-_-Product ram http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088SSV6G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER choosing parts currently trying to avoid ddr4 because the price tag will these 2 work together?
  6. Budget is $3200 for the build. I'll take a look into those
  7. Thank you I didn't think that would be an option. But I guess it does exist. What is the best motherboard available currently? in terms of expansion and features
  8. I need a little help on picking out a motherboard that supports 1394 input , 64 gb of ram and lots of usb 3.0 ports along with fast boot. So far the only one that I'm able to find is this one but I'm not sure if I should get one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0061XSBZG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Is there any other motherboards that are available that are newer or better that support the specs above?
  9. haha perhaps I will! if everything is succesful i'll sign the paperwork and you can come live with me! This build will be used for making music / occasional gaming + video editing. I'm looking to build a computer that will murder the Mac pro cylinder too.
  10. okay 6 core it is! now I just have to settle on a motherboard that has thunderbolt capability and plenty of ram slots. Looking to put 64 gb of ram
  11. Thanks, I'm looking to run OSX on this machine. Didn't know that x99 wasn't supported. Is the 8 core better in terms of overclocking or should I go with the 6 core?
  12. I do have 2 cpu's I'm trying to decide which one would overclock better the 6 core or the 8 core. Hmm good point lemme see if ddr4 has support for 64 gb's
