  1. Glad to here, that everything is working well. Try out some recordings, and see if you like the quality. If you set the Device settings to Transcode, while it s recording, you can reduce the size of the recordings. I have some recordings that are massive sized, and that has helped reduce file sizes. I also did the same with my DVD and BluRay library, Running out of space though. 8TB upgrade? Maybe?
  2. I don't see any issues with that machine. I run mine off of a 3570k with 8GB of ram. I would just make sure to keep it hardwired, to get the best results.
  3. I do the Live TV for Plex, through my Cable Subscription, but it would work just the same over OTA. You could get a 4 Tuner box, the HDHomeRun Connect Quatro, which has 4 tuners in it, so it could record/watch TV for 4 TV's at once. The Plex interface works with Roku, and Fire stick, for watching recordings, as well as Live TV functions. I enjoy the guide that they use for it, It usually shows at 2-3 weeks in advance, you can setup Series recordings, so you don't miss a show. It can cut out Commercials, when it records. However It's not perfect, but it has improved greatly over the past 6 months. Plex does have a Monthly/Yearly/Lifetime purchase fee, and the HD Homerun would have a one time charge as well. But overall I would recommend using Plex for an OTA DVR Solution
  4. I think you might be mistaking Megabit for Megabyte A Megabit per second or mbps is 1/8th of a Megabyte A Megabyte per second or MBps or 8 times a Megabit So in your case, with the download speeds you provided from steam means the 20MBps that you got would then translate to 160mbps Where you speedtest Got roughly 198mbps. If you got 200MBps, you would have to have a 1.6 Gigabit connection or 1600mbps All internet speeds are measured in Megabits per second. And ~200mpbs is a fast speed, for most things now days. So I wouldn't be concerned with the speeds that you are receiving. Hope this helps clear things up for you.
  5. Okay, during this process, are you using a different cable, from the one you used when it was working on your laptop? If not I would try a new cable. Are you using an ISP provided Modem/Router. Or do you have your own? Does the new network adapter replicate the problem with Ubuntu?
  6. Okay, at this point, I would do one of the Two options. Contact MSI for an RMA Or purchase a PCIe network card, or a USB network adapter and use that instead.
  7. Are you familiar with a Linux Live USB Disk? If not check this out https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#0 I would create a disk, run Linux and see if the problem replicates itself with Linux If it does, Your port may be bad on the motherboard If it doesn't, I would try a Fresh install of Windows on the computer, and then DON'T install any of the MSI Utilities, just the Ethernet Driver from Intel.
  8. Did you have this problem before the MSI Gaming Lan program was installed?
  9. Check and see if there is an Update on your BIOS. if so, I would update it. Also, when you are in your BIOS. Look around and see if there is an option for like "Energy Efficient mode" or like a low power mode, for the Network adapter.
  10. Okay. Go to your Network and Sharing Center. Go to Change adapter settings. Disable and then Re-enable the device. I sometimes have to do that on mine to get my full speeds to come through. I have a slightly older version of the NIC that you have.
  11. Okay, I would try the one's directly from Intel https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25016/Ethernet-Intel-Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-10?product=64404 When you do, go back to Device Manager, Uninstall the Old drivers from the Device. Restart your computer, and then Run the Intel Setup
  12. When you installed the Drivers, did you get the Latest one's from Intel directly, or did you get the ones from MSI's website?
  13. Click Start > Search for Run > Enter "devmgmt.msc" This should open up Device Manager In Device Manager, Navigate to Network Adapters Find the Network Adapter in Question, Right click and Hit Properties. Under the Advanced Tab There should be an option for Speed and Duplex. Make sure the drop down selection is Changed to "Auto Negotiation"
