  1. Meanwhile I contacted amazon and they are prepared to either refund me the cost of the part or repair it themselves which can take up to 14 days but costs me nothing
  2. So if you are in the market for a gaming laptop and are in the UK. I strongly advise against HP at this point I have just spent 2 hours arguing with them about repairs. Here's the situation. I bought a hp omen 15 on 21st of June 2021 from amazon warehouse so I knew it had been owned previously. The warranty Is still valid for another 16 days as far as the website can tell. I opened up the laptop yesterday in order to add a second ssd and upgrade the ram when I noticed to my surprise that the ribbon cable that connects the secondary ssd or hdd is not there. So I search my box and its not there either. So I contact hp in the hopes that I can buy the part I wasn't even asking them for it I just wanted to buy the part. Only to find out that in the UK they do not supply parts and on top of that by opening the bottom of the laptop I have voided my warranty. The only resolution is for me to send it to them for "repair" which will take 8 to 12 days. So I'm not happy about this and I ask them how much is that going to cost me. For a 2 min repair to install something that should have been there from the start. The only option they have is to start a repair and I would then get a call in 2 to 3 days where we can talk about price. So if you are at all an enthusiast and plan on upgrading your pc in the future don't buy hp because they do not support you.
  3. super cool i am about to do something simmilar
  4. Hi Guys This will be my first post on the forum i have been lurking around for awhile now but never had anything to really start a thread on. I hope this isn't too boring but i thought i might as well show that even if you are having hard times you can still build a decent rig. This is my first build. I have long been a PC user and enthusiast, but i have up to this point have never had the money and time and opportunity to build my own PC. This project was started as a i7 Gaming PC, I then had a problem with money and had a very limited budget. The idea behind it was a PC i could upgrade over time as i gained more money. The experience of building this PC was a starting block for my more ambitious project that i will be starting soon. An x99 build custom water cooled and custom case build. This is to be financed by my father in lieu of the last few years birthday and Christmas presents. This is the original parts list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/technocaveman/saved/zg8zK8 And this is what i eventually ended up with: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/technocaveman/saved/WbV2FT It actually cost me a lot less than that as i got all of the parts on sale on black Friday and the GPU i got secondhand at CEX about 3 months back. As you can see i had a radical change due to unforeseen circumstances almost all of the money i had put aside had disappeared. Now i have had this rig for almost 3 weeks and had it running properly for less than 1. I am currently running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and SparkyLinux Gameover on 2 separate USB keys. a ADATA 32gb and a Flash Voyager 64gb. this is working really well so far. I will update with the build process at a later date when i have a chance to move it to my room in the case. I am currently running it in the case with the back side panel open as i don't have time to deal with all the cable routing and such. When i have finished constructing my desk/storage area where it will be permanently installed i will rebuild it with all pictures and a thourough build log. All questions are welcome. But please don't be offended if it takes me awhile to reply as i am currently working massively hard and do not spend much time online at the moment. Signing off for now Technocaveman
  5. Bizarrely i was just looking at how small i could DIY something with a very similar spec but maybe with dedicated graphics and if that's possible with a I7 4790k in it.
  6. I would use it as a base to create a new workstation for my Video editing / 3d modelling rig.
  7. Hey Don't know where you are but if you can't find a vinyl place try something like this, http://www.north-east-hydro-custom.com/. it is not Vinyl but it looks really interesting the guy who runs it is married to a woman i work with and i was talking to her yesterday about doing some custom pc case wraps for my next build.
  8. If you could get a stained glass window in a similar pattern or like the time vortex that would be amazing.
  9. R u doing any king of anfield integration? You'll never walk alone.
  10. This paint-job is amazing i love it even the sticker on the window looks like it could be part of the build.
  11. That PSU RED Glory Forever. That and the lights together should really spiff up someone's pc.
