  1. Thanks for the quick replies. The reason I went with this case is because it is a silent optimized case and he really wants a quiet pc. Do you know any cheaper silent optimized cases? And dankjewel!
  2. Hi, I am planning on building a new gaming rig for my brother and I would like your opinions on the parts list I made. 1. Budget & Location His budget is €850 (location: Netherlands) and he doesn't want to go above the budget. 2. Aim It will mostly be used for gaming, but also for some web browsing and word processing. Here are some examples of the games he wants to play: Call of Duty series (including Advanced Warfare), GTA V, Starcraft 2, Borderlands 2, Crysis series and Battlefield series. He is not comfortable overclocking his CPU and he might overclock his GPU a bit. He also wants the PC to be very quiet and doesn't care about the looks. Lastly, he doesn't want/need an SSD. 3. Monitors He is currently running one 1400x900 monitor, but he is planning to upgrade this to a single 1080p monitor at one point. 4. Peripherals He doesn't need any new peripherals or monitors and he already has an OS. 5. Why are you upgrading? The reason for upgrading is that his pc was getting old and it wasn't fast enough for him anymore. This is what I had in mind: Intel Core i5 4590 (€179,90) Gigabyte GA-H97-Gaming 3 (€104,80) Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5 (€368,80) Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH Edition (€39,90) Fractal Design Define R4 (€92,80) Cooler Master G550M (€56,80) Total cost: €843,00 He already has: 500 GB WD Harddrive Some GSkill 2x4GB DDR3 1600 Some optical drive Thanks in advance!
  3. Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, the first one isn't available in my country (The Netherlands) and the second one is above my budget. I have been looking at the Asus R510CA-XX187H, but the battery life is not that great. Any other ideas?
  4. Hi guys! I'm going to university next week and i want to get a laptop. My budget is around €400-€500. It will mostly be used for programming, office and web browsing. I would like a screen size between 11 and 15 inches. What laptop do you recommend me? Thanks!
  5. Ok, so I have installed the 64bit version of Windows 7 ultimate. Although i have more ram available now, it did not make a difference. Is there any other way to fix this? It only happens during multiplayer btw, not during the campaign.
  6. Unfortunately I can't, I installed my W8 on my brother's pc, so I don't have a space license. Is it possible to install a 64bit os on an originally 32bit system? I have always thought that that was impossible, otherwise I would have done it ages ago.
  7. Sorry, forgot to mention that my PSU is a Corsair CX430 (430W, 80+ bronze). The graphics drivers are up to date.
  8. Hello, I have recently swapped out my NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT 512MB for an XFX ATi Radeon HD 5770 1GB. Problems occur while playing Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm. With my old card, I would get around 45 fps steadily throughout the game. Now, with my new card, I start off at around 80 fps, but later during the game, it drops down to 10 fps (even less when in heavy battle). This is weird, considiring that I use exactly the same settings (1440x900@75Hz, everything else set to the lowest). These are my specs: Fractal Design Core 1000 Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz (not overclocked) Dell 0RY007 Motherboard 4096MB RAM (DDR2) 320 GB Seagate SATA HDD 640 GB Hitatchi SATA HDD Some random optical drive XFX ATi Radeon HD 5770 1GB (not overclocked) ASUS Xonar DG Soundcard Corsair CX430 PSU (430W, 80+ bronze) Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit Service Pack 1 (should be noted I was using Windows 8 Pro 32bit with the NVIDIA card, I downgraded to Windows 7 at the same time as installing my new GPU) Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance!
  9. Yeah, I put the motherboard on the motherboard box and I had plugged in all the power connectors. Unfortunately, the board is too old to RMA and I don't have money for a new motherboard. I will probably end up putting this graphics card in my old machine. Anyways, thanks for the help guys, it's much appreciated.
  10. Hi, nothing relevant happened during the reassembling process. Some components might have been damaged when the psu died though, there was melted plastic in the old psu. I have reconnected the power cables several times and I have a 4 pin cpu connector, so it can't be pcie. Hi, yes I have tried plugging in the speaker. Unfortunately, I did not get a beep code. Hello, I ran the motherboard outside of the case with one stick of ram of which I know that works. Sadly enough, this did not fix it. I have tested the psu aswell, it worked fine in another pc.
  11. Thanks for your reply. I've tried what you said, but still the pc won't POST. Guess I have to buy a new motherboard then
  12. First of all, thanks for the quick reply. I have tried what you suggested and it did not come up with the setup. In addition to this, I put the HDD in my current system and it worked perfectly. Is there any way to know for 100% sure that it is my motherboard failing? I am afraid to buy a new motherboard, if something else may cause the problem (that's kinda what happened with the power supply in the first place).
