  1. THANK YOU so much. I really appreciate it. It works perfectly fine now. However the program only works if I reference the cpp file in the main file, which is weird.... I'll probably have to install a new compiler or ide. But thank you this has been driving me crazy for a month now. Also thank you for the tip of the namespace (I looked up its disadvantages).
  2. Hi I've been trying to figure out this personal project of mine. So I've created a program that takes input from a text file and then outputs to the command prompt. The program works but it crashes after the output. This didn't happen when my print() function was written inside my Add(). Can anyone tell me why and what I did wrong? I will attach 2 header files and 2 cpp files and 1 text file. data1.txt dummymain.cpp Node.h StudList.cpp StudList.h
  3. So sometimes in random moments (rarely) my monitor goes to sleep and I can't make it wake up. Also the times it did this while I was playing a game or watching a video, the sound would also crash (sounds similar to when you update your settings in a valve game). I know it's not the motherboard, since I recently bought a replacement, and I don't think it's the monitor itself. So I think it's either the graphics card or the Power supply. I will link my build and I am running on (Windows 10 64 bit) also it HAS done this weird sleep/crash this week on a newly installed Linux Mint 17.3 64-bit OS. Please in your geek-tech wisdom let me know what is the most likely issue that is occurring. Build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ViralV3/saved/#view=Qv8D4D
  4. Hi guys, I was working on a project for class that includes the prereqs: Create a linked list of employee numbers and their salaries. Have an add function, remove function(removes the last node), and a display and a clear function. I thought, at first, I should create one linked list for the employee numbers and another for the salaries. But then I thought It would be easier to make a linked list that instead of just a data and *next.... I could have a data1 and a data2 and then a *next. But then I considered it to be possibly bad programming, as functions and classes should be flexible. Can you guys with more programming experience let me know which method I should go with? Thanks
  5. Hi I'm currently trying to get GTA V to run at 60 fps. It runs over 60 fps many times when I'm in a building or looking a simple part of the map; however whenever I'm outside it goes down to 40 fps and when I'm driving very fast it goes down to 30 fps. Is there any way to improve my frames by adjusting some settings. I will have my current settings attached. Also everything in advanced graphics is turned off. One weird thing to note is that going windowed mode (1366 x 768) or fullscreen (1920 x 1080) doesn't really affect my fps either. I don't mind what window resolution I have to use as long as I can get 60 fps with some decent settings. My build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ViralV3/saved/#view=63Lbt6
  6. Hi I recently built a new pc with the amd fx 8320 cpu. Currently on Idle it'll stay at 30 Celsius, and while web browsing, it hasn't gotten past 35 C. However when I was playing CS:GO it did go up to 45-50 Celsius. I read on another post that to elongate the cpu's lifetime I should keep its temperature below 55C. Is this fine or should I upgrade my cpu fan? And which one? It would need to be amd3+ socket compatible, and my case [NZXT 210 Elite] can support cpu heatsinks of 160mm.
  7. The case has to be my favorite. It just looks nice and has some decent features. Also I can't believe there's another giveaway already.
  8. Hey so I don't care much for the 4k resolution stuff, they sound huge and expensive. I just wanna know what is the best graphics card (currently) that can play just about any game on full settings at 1920x1080p resolution. What gives you the best performance and if you can what card gives you the better bang for your buck/ performance per dollar ? EDIT: don't worry about budget, I just wanna know what you think is the best gpu
  9. Thank you SO MUCH. I completely forgot about that operator, and thanks for the simple solution. Much appreciated.
  10. Hi , I'm currently working on a project for my c++ course in which a user enters 3 different numbers for a date. The program then will ask them which of the following formats would they like their output. 1. 10/7/14 2. October 7, 2014 3. 7-Oct-2014 I can handle everything but the first option. If the user entered 2014 for his/her year, how would i make sure the program only displays 14 instead of 2014?
  11. Hi, I was thinking of dishing out some extra cash for a GTX 970 (preferably the Asus Strix if that makes a difference). However I would like to know if an AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor would just bottleneck it. Would I have to upgrade my cpu or downgrade the graphics card?
  12. thank you everyone for replying, even though I've been thinking about this for a month now, I'm still scared and I appreciate the help so far.
  13. tldr; I wanna play latest game at high/ultra settings (1920x1080p fullscreen isn't necessary) at a decent frame rate. Let me know about better parts that won't increase the cost too much My Build: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3L2OPST5MF6PH/ref=topnav_lists_2 Hi Guys, I'm attempting and saving up for my first PC build ever. I've done a lot of investigating and reading articles and I think I found the parts that I want to play games at Ultra/High settings that won't suck my money all in one go. I would have gone with an AMD cpu and motherboard, but I hear intel is slightly better and I feel like i won't have to upgrade my cpu in the next 3-4 years (hopefully, maybe, I honestly don't know). I won't be overclocking(since I don't know exactly how to do it, and the idea scares me) or doing any video rendering or using any high cpu intensive programs. I need to know if I can play the latest games at least high or medium graphics with a decent frame rate. I'm willing to spend this much, maybe save some on cyber monday, but if you think you can find any better parts without increasing the cost too much. Please let me know EDIT: My budget right now is $800, but it would be nice to save some money. If you know where I can find some better/cheaper parts that would be great. And yes Wireless is necessary until I get my own apartment/ Internet and ethernet set up.
