  1. So have you resolved your issue now?
  2. Only if you fancy blowing the thing up for shits and giggles.
  3. Powercolor, though.....I've not heard good things about their cards.
  4. If you have a GPU cable that's not connected properly then slight inconsistency with the power flow could cause stutters and such, I suppose. Do you have another cable you could use to see if it fully connects and resolves your issue?
  5. Depends what the rules are. If you mean one I bought from a company, then my old iMac. If you mean the best computer I simply bought built, then it was a PC I bought from a web designer whilst living in Cyprus. PC stuff is hard to get there, and very expensive. I didn't want to drop 2k on a machine at that point, but I found an advert for a guy who selling one second hand. The ad was old, but when I called him up he still had it and I picked it up for about 400 Euros (ad price was for 800, but he'd had no offers). It was one year old, and the guy was only selling it because he was downsizing his office and genuinely felt he no longer had room for it, so was getting an iMac. It was high spec for the time, and did for me for a good 2-3 years. It was so good that I took it to 3 different countries, as my only luggage, and had to buy clothes when I arrived because I wouldn't leave it behind. My wife still thinks it was crazy.....probably right.
  6. The Icydock MB996SP-6SB http://www.icydock.com/goods.php?id=151 There are a few reviews knocking about the place, but they've mostly been sales pitches rather than anything useful.
  7. They are solid cars. We've had 3 now, I think, and they're all been very reliable. If you find it is a bit steep, you could consider a 1 Series. They're surprisingly good. Back on topic: Saving for a house, but have to wait until the old one is sold.
  8. That's fair enough. But I thought the same when I picked up a 3 Series when I was in the US a while ago and it's amazing how often you end up using the back seats regardless. Enjoy it though. They're fun.
  9. Get a four door, mate. The two doors seem cool, but you own them for a month or so and always end up annoyed you didn't get the 4.
  10. It sounds like they're trying to encourage more people to buy Windows 8, rather than anything else. The "stay away" crowd with 8 was massive, and leaking details about a possible "free upgrade" to 9 would be a legitimate marketing strategy to try and push sales of the 8 OS.
  11. By "design" are people talking purely about aesthetics here? Surely "design" covers functionality and not just looks. For example, I use a HAF XB. It's an ugly box, but it's also very easy to swap parts out (which I do often) and works very well as a test bench. So, despite the looks, I'd say it's a good design. If we're going on fugliness, then the Saitek Cyborg gets my vote. Ugh.
  12. Wheezy. It had a dodgy fan and I didn't have time to replace it for a while....the name stuck.
  13. I once bought a wifi adapter and spent 6 hours trying to get it working only to realise the chip was only linux compatible...uhu. Not one of mine, but my favourite one was a mate of mine who couldn't get his PC to switch on. He asked me to come round and check, because he'd been messing with it for hours and was about to RMA his PSU. I got there and jokingly asked if he'd plugged it in, which he said he had and showed me the thing plugged into the wall. I visually followed the wire and saw that whilst it was plugged into the wall, he'd forgotten he'd unplugged it from the actual PSU. He may have been slightly embarrassed.
  14. Hating a company is always an odd one, unless they're doing genuinely nasty things (landmines, sweat shops etc). My issue with Apple these days is that I find the quality to be extremely poor. I've had every iPad and iPhone model since they came on the market, along with various iMacs and Macbooks. For me, the quality has steadily declined, as has the user experience. It used to be the case that Apple's quality and ease of use were simply unrivaled in the marketplace, and that their products were the only sensible option for any business working in design, editing etc. After years of using Apple products (and rival stuff), I am now in the process of moving over to Android-based products. It's also the case that now, unlike in the past, design teams I work with are increasingly using PCs and ditching Apple - which should be a warning sign to Apple to up their game. Equally, my wife (who would hardly let a non-Apple product in the house at one stage), is now moving to Android and her current iMac will likely be her last. If she's leaving Apple, then something must be wrong. Apple no longer provides the functionality, ease of use, quality or experience they used to, so for me as a consumer it's time to move on.
  15. I'm not sure there's any level of computer deal that could make me camp out over night for it. I might...might...be willing to get up before 9am.
