  1. As the title says, help me make an informed decision between the two. Currently, I have a Dell U2713H and I want to try out a 144hz monitor. In an ideal world, I would like a cheap 1440p 144hz IPS with a CRT like monitor but we live in a real world. I like the resolution on the XL2730Z and I like the "IPS like" color accuracy of the 24GM77. The one thing that pulls me to the LG is the motion 240 feature that claims that has CRT like clarity vs the blur reduction of the Benq. However, benq has freesync and although I have a 980 ti, I may upgrade to a VEGA gpu if its as good as it says or get another 980 ti and just turn on the blur reduction of the benq. Please help.
  2. Here's my settings on an ASUS Z87 Sabertooth (updated to latest UEFI): Sync All cores - 45 Min/Max CPU cache ration/Uncore - 40 Digi+Power Control (for ASUS mobo) CPU Load Line Calibration - Level 8 CPU Voltage Frequency - Manual(500) CPU Power Phase Control - Extreme CPU Power Duty Control - T.Probe CPU Current Capability - 140% CPU Power Thermal Control - 130 Eist - Enabled Turbo mode - Enabled CPU Core Voltage - Manual (1.300v) * I set my core volatage to Adaptive when not doing some stress test with: CPU Core Voltage Offset - 0.010v CPU Input Voltage - 1.900v CPU C states - Enabled Enhanced C1 - Enabled CPU C3 Report - Enabled CPU C6 Report - Enabled C6 Latency - Short CPU C7 report - CPU C7s C7 Latency - Long CFG Lock - Disabled Package C state control - auto PCI Config DMI LINK ASPM Control - Disabled ASPM SUPPORT - Disabled System Ageng Config VT-d - Disbaled That's all the settings that I've played with on the UEFI. I would like just to confirm if the temps that I'm getting on stress test on Aida64 and XTU which is on Package CPU temp @ low 90 to high 90 degree Celsius. It does reach 100 degree Celsius on 2 of the cores that in turns thermal throttles the processor at 1.35v for 4.6ghz OC. On gaming I have no problem its just that I can't push the processor more. And it does make me think that my CPU cooler (Corsair H100i) is not capable or its ability to cool has degraded if the temps on my stress test relative to the voltage is not normal.
  3. It's a dirty OC at 4.5ghz at 1.3volts. I was just starting to OC and was taken aback by the temps (100c) I'm having on 2 of the cores of my 4970k. The average temps on the package is at low to high 90c.
  4. Referring to the title of the thread, I would like to confirm the temps I'm having on my 4970k. I have it at 4970K @ 1.3v cooled by a Corsair H100i @ Performance profile and the temps I'm having on software (Aida64 and XTU) that I use for stress test can easily shoot up at TJmax on 2 of my cores. I am aware that the software can heat up a processor but I was not expecting it reaching up to TJmax at those kind of voltage. In addition, I live in a tropical country (Philippines) but at this time of year (and maybe because of global warming), it's the coldest (strangely cold this past years and getting colder) time of the year. The question is, Is the temps normal considering the voltage, cooler, software and the place I live in? Or is there something wrong especially my cooler? I have my H100i for a couple of years now. Does the coolant inside the H100i needs replacement? At what age/time of use do you need to change it? and can you even change the coolant on the H100i? I hope the community can help me clear if not all but some of my queries. Thanks.
  5. I guess I'll just hold on to my money and save for a 1440p 144hz display or a 980 ti whichever comes first. Thanks for all the input.
  6. I want to experience first hand the difference between IPS 1440p and a TN 1080p 144hz, you'll never know which one will appeal to you personally. I think so too, but I just can't help myself to upgrade and try different hardware first hand before I decide what I want. I guess I need help.
  7. 4.2ghz at 1.25v.. It won't go past 4.2 even at 1.3v, guess I just got unlucky with the silicon lottery. Hmm.. yeah, I've tried IPS 1440p, IPS 1080p and TN 720p.. I guess its not bad to try out a TN 1080p 144hz.
  8. Well, I have some money to burn (63usd converted) and I'm thinking on adding another 8 gig of ram kit (Avexir Core 2x4gb 2133mhz) or upgrade my 4670k to 4790 (used). I also know that either upgrade would show little or close to nothing improvements on performance. Having said all that, I still want to "upgrade" my gaming rig, which of the two would show more improvement between the two aforementioned hardware? For more info, I have a GTX 980 G1 Gaming (upgrading to 980 ti is still way out of reach), a Samsung 840 EVO 120gb (should I get another one and configure it to RAID 0?), 1TB WD Blue (should I get another one and configure it to RAID 0?) and a Dell 2713H (Should I get a 144hz 1080p monitor such as LG 24GM77, ASUS VG248QE, BenQ XL2411Z?) incase you guys have other ideas to upgrade. Main usage of the system is strictly for gaming. To the mods, I have no idea where to appropriately post my thread. I kindly ask to move the thread if its in the wrong section. Thank you very much.
  9. It's easy.. slow motion! I never win on this kind of giveaways.
  10. I play almost all genres. I play BF4, Witcher 3, 2k15, Wow, ACU, FC4, Borderlands 2, Alien: Isolation, Dragon Age: Inquisition, etc. I play seriously on Wow though. Does the color reproduction of your display is nearly as good as a decent 1080p IPS display or is the difference is night and day?
  11. Hi. I'm an ordinary gamer that wants the best experience that I can afford. My gaming rig specs are: 4670k at 4.2ghz GTX 970 G1 at around 1.5ghz core clock and 7600mhz memory clock 8gb 1866 ram Asus VX239h it's an IPS 1080p monitor at 60hz I want to upgrade my display and if needed, my GPU at a later time. My previous display is a Samsung 720p monitor so I have no experience playing at above 1080p and 60hz displays. I'm eyeing a couple of displays that is within my budget and those are: ASUS VG248qe at 320 USD brand new BenQ XL2411Z at 320 USD brand new LG 24GM77-B at 300 USD brand new Dell U2713h at 220 USD used Dell P2715q at 300 USD used If needed, I can upgrade my GPU to a GTX 980 reference card and OC it to it's highest clocks. Can it handle those res or refresh rate without too much decrease on in-game graphics settings? The prices are converted from my local currency. I play almost all genres. I play BF4, Witcher 3, 2k15, Wow, ACU, FC4, Borderlands 2, Alien: Isolation, Dragon Age: Inquisition, etc. Playing at 1080p@60hz at the highest settings is great but I want to "step up" the experience. Which of those display can I perceived improved game play? TL;DR Dell P2715Q IPS 27" 4k@60hz vs Dell U2713H IPS 27" 1440p@60hz vs ASUS VG248QE TN 24" 1080p@144hz vs BenQ XL2411Z TN 24" 1080p@144hz vs LG 24GM77-B TN 24" 1080p@144hz Which of those display can I perceived improved game play from an IPS 1080p@60hz display?
  12. I've owned a 7770, 650 ti boost, 7870, 7870 LE, R9 280x on CF and a GTX 970. I don't understand people complaining about AMD's drivers and their multi-gpu solution since I've experienced both side of the camps. So if you're just an ordinary gamer that only does is game and nothing complicated, the perceived advantage of Nvidia over AMD regarding gpu drivers is negligible as of present. Maybe before nvidia is superior but things change and as of lately we've been hearing about nvidia's blunder regarding their gpus and gpu drivers and yet to most of you, in your eyes, nvidia can't do anything wrong. I'm not a fanboy of any of the camps, all I want is give credit to where credit is due and an appropriate response to failures or wrongdoings.
  13. Lol at this kind of thinking, and not quite some time ago you guys told the same thing about the 970, get one now and get another later. And when that later comes here we go again, get a 980 ti and another one later. I would imagine when that "later" comes, you guys would be saying get <insert new gen gpu here> and get another one later. Smh. My advice, get the fastest single card GPU that you can afford OR if you like multi-GPU solutions, get it the same time or not more than 6 months apart to maximize the money that you had spent before the latest and greatest generations of GPUs gets released.
  14. I guess I'll uninstall the software for the time being and find a fix first or contact asus since it's still under warranty, after its fixed or guaranteed to be no damage to the hardware then I'll completely stay away with AI Suite 3. Thanks again for the help. Although if you guys had the same problem and find a way to fix it, I hope you can share it with me so I can try if it'll fix my problem. Thanks.
