  1. Thinkpad x1 ? The keyboard might be more coding friendly But are you looking for a thin and light? budget?
  2. My second system is being used for a security system so in the PC part picker i have listed the existing parts i can re use. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/nRBPgw I have about 1000$ CAD to spend on a motherboard + CPU so around that price point what are my best options? I will be waiting for more LPX RAM to go on sale, thats on top of the budget for CPU +mobo. Im covering myself for the wtf only 8gb of RAM comments that will come, im looking for 32GB total. BUT if i go threadripper do i need higher clockspeeds on ram over the RAM i already have? i have a buyer for my current RAM down the street already if i choose to sell it so im not worried about having to re use it if i cant. Thanks, I was considering the 1900x or the new i7 6 core. I do mainly heavy multi tasking (100 tabs or more is my usual), i do some gaming but not alot, and mainly titles that are not too CPU intensive so higher core counts over IPC in this situation is what im thinking. I do some CAD as well.
  3. I have a 2009 RAM 1500 with 5.7. I replaced the engine oil (penzoil platinum full synthetic 5W-20 which was 26$ on sale at Walmart for a gallon so i couldn't resist) along with engine filter (from Mopar) and the dash display keeps teling me to get an oil change even after i did it, any ideas how to stop it? Normally i change the oil before 8000km but it was -15C so i waited till it warmed up outside at 8500km so for the first time the change oil message came on (ive never had to turn it off before). Second question is related to fuel economy, an observation and also a question. I get on average 18.5L/100KM city only, or 17.2L/100KM on the hwy at 135km/hr or 14.9L/100 at 105-110km/hr. This is after i installed the flowmaster outlaw muffler (I have the twin exhaust pipes factory installed as its a Laramie), the numbers all dropped by about 0.9-1 litre with the new exhaust. I tend to drive about 135-140 on the hwy but in the city i am very gentle on the peddle (i am to keep the RPM under 2000 accelerating from a stoplight) so any ideas on getting better fuel economy? If i accelerate any faster my fuel consumtion can go north of 21-22L/100km when i approach 2500-3000 for acceleration. It sounds beastly with the new exhaust, i have put in LEDs in the rear taillights, added a 1000w subwoofer to go along with the existing kicker system from factory, what would any of you modify next? Top ideas under 500? over 500? I am thinking about a push bar but want full coverage in front, not just a bar in the middle Colour of the truck is Silver/Chrome Thanks!
  4. Used GTX 900 series are cheap in Toronto area, same with 4790K motherboard combos
  5. Check out Jays Two Cents on YouTube. He has lots of custom loop tutorials and the recent one with his own personal build he tells how to plan a loop. As for where to buy parts that depends on your location.... Canada? USA?
  6. Whoa 700 USD... i was talking CAD O_o
  7. not sure on the pricing comparison but i have an Acer Predator 27" 1440p 160Hz gsync, i got it on sale for 550$ ish last year
  8. lol of course it takes ages to boot up... 5400rpm hard drive. Try an SSD or 7200RPM HDD

Limit some users speeds so that not any single one of them can have access to such crazy speeds

man i love my ISP, they boost my speeds +130 an…

    about 60$ + Tax
  11. im running off the clone i did from my first SSD in 2013(On my FX8350) , which i cloned to a RAID 0 SSD array in 2015 (which is when i moved to an i5 4670k) then cloned that to the single 250GB SSD i am using now with my i7 4790k, no issues so far! But i totally agree... i just got lucky. Although windows took about 25 minutes to "find new devices and drivers" at boot when i put the drive into my i5 system coming from the 8350 EDIT: I make an image of my SSD once a week which backs up to my HDD

gigabit but normally get 850-940mbps, upload is only 35... not sure why rogers only gives 35 up on a gigabit package... so weird. Id rather have 300mbps if i can get 50-100mbps upload. I use a seedbox as they do not allow torrenting....
  13. That was so true. My first PC was an IBM amptiva 350mhz pentium with a 6GB HDD.... then some shitty toshiba laptop then a macbook then i realized macs were shit and my pc interest was pegged from there. Now I work as an IT consultant
  14. https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10 Its that easy to download windows, just use a 4GB or bigger USB stick to make the image with rufus. With ransomeware? NO I REPEAT DO NOT DO A FACTORY RESET
  15. Yes if the windows version you install is the same
  16. download the version of windows the pc came with, its an ISO file, use RUFUS to make a bootable usb out of it. Install and activate with that key
  17. 1) Monitor brand and model 2) What cable is connecting it to the computer? 3) Updated graphics drivers? 4) What video card?

  19. my 980ti is getting 120fps in most games maxed out at 1080p on my 144hz panels so id say a 1080Ti if you want to max em out and still get 100+ FPS
