  1. Everythings works out of the box. EVGA says this PSU's cable arent compatible with their newer lineup, but only the 24 pin cable isnt. I tested with the multimeter, plugged the cable in my GPU and everything is alright. And because EVGA doesnt specify compatibility of individual cables in a bundle, Cablemod also says the PCIe cable isnt compatible. Probably for liability reasons.
  2. I have a friend's GPU that is dead from a power outage, but when plugged in, the fans tries to turn on every 3-4 seconds. Would this work? Of course it wouldn't properly work, but I would be able to observe the fans. The multimeter solution is technically guaranteed to work if am not a complete idiot. Or consult with someone that isn't.
  3. This power supply was an outlier in their lineup. EVGA's newer cable set are technically not compatible because of the 24 pins layout. Cablemod can make cable for me but their wait time is very long right now. I have the pinout diagram of this PSU and EVGA's newer lineup and it seams indentical for the PCIe power cable. Would it technically work? I know, it could blow my GPU and it's really not recommended.
  4. I think he has RGB mouse mat, mouse, keyboard and that's about it. His headphone may be plugged via USB.
  5. I built a PC for a friend not long ago, so what I can do to diagnose is pretty limited as I don't have the PC here. CPU : AMD ryzen 5 3600x GPU : AMD 5600 XT (the new BIOS came preinstalled) MOBO : MSI mpg x570 gaming edge wifi (bios is not up to date, end 2019 version) RAM : Corsair vengeance RGB pro 16gb 2666 mhz Peripheral : various corsair The PC began to crash playing rainbow 6 siege a short time after building. He did a factory reset of windows (not a clean install) and the problem persisted.. Now it crash in multiple games and even just browsing and talking on discord. He told told me it still crashes mainly in rainbow 6 seige. I did stress test on the CPU and GPU, temperatures are fine. I did a diagnostic to be sure his driver are up to date. My next step are to update his MOBO bios and reinstall windows. I'll wipe my windows install usb key and make a new one. I used this key for my win 10 build 3 years ago and it worked just fine, but something may have got corrupted or something may have gone wrong during the install. Appart from that... I don't know. I'll be beaten if those 2 things don't solve it.
  6. I read that the card had problem at lunch. I am putting together a build for a friend and the RX 5600 XT is 100 $ cheaper in Canada at the moment. He also already bought a monitor and it has freesync. How is the situation at moment? Any prefered brand?
  7. So far I love them. I had the ATH-M50x before they got stolen in my appartement last week. The difference between both model is not huge. The bass on the M50x were a bit more overwhelming and are more "controled" on the DT 770. The highs are a bit more strident on the 770s too. I am not a true audiophile, so I may not using good terms and i may be biased a little as this is not a true A/B comparison. Most people are not looking for a true flat curve and will enjoy bassier headphone, and I think the 770 are great at that. I have the 250 ohms on a Fiio e10k, there is not much difference between it and the front audio connector on my PC. Maybe a bit more bass on the Fiio. I have a fairly good z370 motherboard tho.
  8. What is the ampedance of your pair? I am supposed to receive my DT 770 250 ohm with a Fiio e10k tonight, i'll try reporting back. You'll het better advice on Head-fi's forum tho. DT 990 with Fiio e10k is a common combo.
  9. Beats arent as bad as they used to be, they have actually good reviews now. Their old stigma is following them. The X3 never worked on my oneplus 3T, its bluetooth antenna is poo, and i tried 3 of them before giving up and going for Bose. I had the Bose soundsport wireless before it got stolen. Loved them. Will probably buy them again. I wouldnt buy an earphone from oneplus, i didnt read review, but i like to get them from more "established" audio company. And it's coming from a guy that has a 1+ 3T and is loving it.
  10. I read that they are not a huge step up from the 770, not for the price gap at least. I bought the DT 770 250 ohm and will be trying the tonight.
  11. Prefered display size at 15, could be 13in. Weight is not realy important to me. although not too clunky. I dont know what is standard for battery life, but my surface did about 4 hours... I hated it for that. Light usage, no gaming or 3d stuff. If it doesnt have a touch screen the trackpad must be damn good. The asus zenbook at 999 is tempting
  12. As stated, I had a break in my appartement and my Surface Pro 1 got stolen. Insurance are covering it. I want to replace it with a more conventionnal laptop between 800 ans 1000$ CAN. I am looking at the new asus Vivobook 15in right now. https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/asus-vivobook-15-6-laptop-silver-yellow-intel-core-i5-8250u-256gb-ssd-8gb-ram-windows-10-english/12644961.aspx? A touchescreen and a decent touch pad would be nice tho. I plan on buying it at blackfriday (canadian blackfriday is kinda poo tho) What are your thought. Edit : I game on my desktop, so only for netflix, youtube and various not relly demanding things.
  13. Posted this in phones and tablet, might have more response here. Hi, I changed my screen and battery yesterday on my 1+ 3T. I am having a few problem with new component. When I opened the packaging of the battery, there was a kind of weird chemical smell. But I brushed it off as it being the smell of the adhesive tape used to seal the box. A lot of tape was used to basicaly make the box air tight. Keep that in mind for whats next. When I pluggued the battery, it was at 1%, so I charged the phone until it was at 100% and unpluggued it to make a few tests with the new screen, it was working fine at that point. But the battery was draining FAST, i am talking 1% every 1-2 min. I rebooted into recovery to wipe cache, thinking it might be related. When I got into recovery mode, the screen went black, working every 5sec for half a second and in brown-ish color. Trying to get out of this state while not seing what was the screen, I reseted the phone. It started up fine, the screen was OK. and the phone was working fine. Except the battery percentage was stuck at 36% and was still at 36% this morning after a few hour of standby. I rebooted into recoveryt At this point, I pretty sure the battery is bad. I have another one marketed on ebay as OEM (still ebay, could be fake). Now for my question. I not sure if the screen problem is caused by the screen itself or the battery. If the screen was faulty, in my mind, the flickeing problem would present at all time and not just in recovery mode. Now if the battery was faulty, could it cause this problem while still being fine when in normal operation? My thinking is that maybe in this mode, the power draw is minimal and the busted battery doesnt supply enough for the screen to work properly. Sorry for the wall of text. I will also contact the seller of the battery to request a new one. He had a lot of very positive review on ebay.

  15. I didnt see any trace going to the screw holes themself. I'll probably rub it a little with Isopropyl alcool before final reassembly. I touched the PCB with bare hand while my fingers where a bit sweaty.
