Also if you are getting crashes or infinite loading screens you should download memory block log and see if the 1º block goes over 256 mb, if it does the game will crash but you can download a memory patch. Gopher has a great video explaining that. Would recommend to watch gopher's modding tutorial, that is where I started. One mod that is necessary is frostfall it really adds to the immersion of the game.

The last 0.5 gb is still usable and it is better than system memory. So if a game can use it correctly and store things that dont need to be acessed really quickly it wont affect performance ( that much). It is also game dependent, some games might just crash, cause lots of sttuters and others might be fine and not have big issues.

Fractal design R4 and R5 are also a option if you like the slick scandanavian design.

All 970s have the issue it is the core's fault, the thing that makes the 970 also makes the problem.

Never forget 01-28-2015, the year of the Great Wifi depression. Milions of IT employees got fired after the Wifi shortage, bilions stopped using the internet on their mobile devices, they had to use massive long cables. It was worse than the Apocalypse, even worse then the Millenium bug.

The VRAM issue (not really with the VRAM but with the core), doesnt change the performance of the 970. It still performs good. Unless you really need 4 gb you shouldn't encounter the problem. Other factors like CUDA, MFAA, heat, physix should probabily impact more on the card choice than the VRAM issue. But if you want and dont really need the Nvidia features you could buy a r9 290x or 290, that way you dont support these shady marketing schemes and you also give the finger to Nvidia.

That ping. Even a carrier pigeon is faster at delivering messages then that computer. That's beyond unusable.You should do everything to upgrade that if you want to do the most basic gaming or even web browsing. Do you live in a rural area?

There are a couple of things that can cause that. One of them can be bad temperature reading, try other programs or check if there is alot of heat comming from the back of the card. It can also be caused by really bad airflow, get some fresh air in there. The cooler could be mounted badly. If you are really unconfortable with the temps you could remount it but there are risks. Last case scenario you may need a RMA.

You should try to downgrade corsair link to older version, Corsair link is one of the buggiest programs that I have used and only 1 or 2 versions of it are able to do the basic (at least for my pc). Installing the lastest version of Corsair Link is a risk since it might not even work.
