  1. Thanks to both of you, I won't be getting a DiplayPort to DVI cable then. I'll try the custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel when I get home from work today. Is it possible, that the GPU simply doesn't support 144hz?
  2. Hello LTT forum I'll make it short; I got my little brother a BenQ XL2411Z as a christmas present, since he plays a lot of CS:GO and other FPS games and would benefit of the 144hz on the monitor. Atm he is using a laptop made by a danish dealer(MM-vision). The GPU in this machine is the GTX 675MX. I wanted to be sure that the monitor would run 144hz of his computer, however, I haven't been succesful so far. To test this setup I've been using a DVI-D dual link cable connecting one end to the DVI-I dual link port on the back of his PC and the other end to the back of the screen. Using this configuration I haven't been able to choose the 144hz option in the screen configuration window in windows nor in the Geforce Controlpanel. I tried using an HDMI cable instead, same problem. The last thing I haven't tried is using the display port on my brothers PC, since I don't have a display port cable. However, the monitor doesn't support display port so I would have to get a display port to DVI dual link cable, if I wanted to use the display port on the computer. Is this the way to go? Do you have any other possible solutions or does his GPU simply not support 144hz? All help is greatly appreciated!
  3. Hi LTT forum, My current headset, the Logitech G35, has served me for quite some years now, but its demise has come. Therefore I'm looking for a replacement in form of either a new headset or a headphone+mic combination. A few pointers towards narrowing down my options: - I'm open for both options with regards to a headset or a pair of headpones plus a standalone mic. - For the time being I'm leaning towards a closed back headphones like my G35, but I must admit that I haven't had much experience with open headphones. - I'm a bit of a basehead and for that reason headphones with an analytical sound signature probably isn't my cup of tea. - If I'm getting a seperate mic it will most likely be the ModMic 4.0, since the background sound of my keyboard with a desktop mic is less than optimal. - My maximum price for the entire upgrade is around 200-250 euros. At the moment the amount options seem a bit overwhelming, however, I have come up with a few possibilities: - The HyperX Cloud II. - The Audio Technica ATH-M50/M50X + ModMic. I must admit that my knowledge on headphones isn't that great, but I would love to hear a few suggestions from you guys! Thanks in advance
  4. Thank you for the continuous posting of videos with great content - especially the WAN show. I love watching that show, partly because I enjoy all the tech news and your analazys of it, but also because I really enjoy the personality of Linus and Luke together, discussing tech stuff. Every single day I wait for videos posted by you guys because I value the quality of the content you upload - you just make my days better
  5. Thanks guys, I'm probably going to go with the AF120/SP120 setup from xnoobftw, but I'm gonna orientate them like LoGiCalDrm suggested. On a side note; does anyone have any good ideas when it comes to lighting in this case? I've tried with a Bitfenix Alchemy strip, but it doesn't really get the job done very well, since the light source is visible through the top window in most spots. I was thinking single LED's maybe? But I don't have much experience with this kind of stuff, so I'd appreciate some input.
  6. Hello forum In a little while I will be building my new system in Lian Li's PC-V359 case, however, I'm a bit unsure how to optimize the airflow in the case. I will be using either Corsairs AF120's or their SP120's as fans in this case. The case is split in two compartments, a lower and an upper. The lower part isn't a problem, since I'm most likely just going to put a SP120 down there(maybe even a noctua, who knows). The upper part on the other hand is where I become unsure. The picture down below should give a pretty good idea of where I'm considering mounting fans: The CPU cooler for this system will be a single tower air cooler from be quiet!, the Dark Rock 3(green on the picture). The blue spots on the picture air places that I'm sure to place fans, however, I'm in doubt about two things: should they be AF120's or SP120's and should they blow air into the case or pull air out of the case? The rear exhaust will naturally blow air out of the case, but what about the two other 'blue fans'? Aditionally it's possibly to mount two fans behind the GFX, but I'm not sure whether or not this is worth it with noise levels in mind. Should I place these(yellow ones)? If yes I'm probably going with SP120's. Thanks for any and all help
  7. It could be some kind of malware program which is running in the background, eating up all your memory. I had that happen to me - I would leave my PC at somewhere around 25-30% RAM usage and come back with it amped up to somewhere around 85-90% with no apparent reason. After a little while I figured out it was some weird program called Youtube Accelerator, which apparently had been installed alongside another program without my knowledge. Unintalling and removing every part of the program plus a restart managed to fix my problem. I hope you figure it out
  8. I'm running a 144Hz monitor and a GTX 770 from ASUS and I love it, although the framrate in games highly depend on which game you're playing(duuh). In games such as LoL, CS:GO, Dota 2 and so on it easily handles AT LEAST 144 FPS. In other games such as Rust it runs at somewhere around 120 FPS and in BF4 it's probably an average of 90-100. Even at 90-100 FPS in BF4 everything seems to run smooth even though it doesn't have the horsepower to max it out at 144 FPS. I don't know if that's any help, but I thought I might just pitch in with my experience
  9. I'll be sure to do so, but it will most likely be a few weeks before my budget allows it. If you guys were to use BitFenix Alchemy lighting like I plan to, do you have any genious ideas when it comes to places to mount it in this mATX case? In a 'normal case' it usually isn't a problem mounting the LED's in spots where the source of the light isn't visible, but in this case it might be because of the design with two 'stories' and a window in the top of the case.
  10. Thanks for the help guys, it's awesome! I just took a look at Enermax's T.B. Vegas fans and I agree, they look really cool. But tbh I'm most likely going for the AF120/SP120 without LEDs, since they just look so damn good to me. I might spice it up with some lighting from some BitFenix Alchemy strips instead though.
  11. Hello forum Recently I decided to rebuild my current PC to a new and smaller PC, although I will be utilizing some of the parts from my old computer. The following parts will be reused: CPU: i5 4670k GFX: ASUS DC2OC GTX 770 PSU: Corsair HX 650W SSD: Samsung 840 250GB HDD: WD black 1TB A few of the new parts to the system are already decided, however, I'd appreciate some thoughts or ideas to changes/optimizations of the system. The colour choices in this build is red and black(super original, I know) and the parts are therefore picked accordingly. As for other concerns when picking parts a low level of noise is also important to me. Parts in bold are final decisions: Case: Lian Li PC-V359WB RAM: For now I've been looking at 16GB of HyperX Fury in red, but I'm all open to suggestions here. Bear in mind that the RAM height might be important depending on what CPU-cooler I choose. Motherboard: Asus Maximus Gene VII. This board just looks amazing to me, even when the price is taken into consideration. CPU-cooler: This part in particular might be where I need advice. I've been looking at the be quiet! Dark Rock 3(the pro version is simply too massive for my taste), but I'm still very unsure what to purchase here. I'm open for suggestions for air coolers as well as liquid coolers. Fans: I'm either going for Corsairs AF120/SP120 fans or Corsairs LED fans - what do you guys think would look nicest? Which parts that perform well, keep decently quiet and look good comes to mind? Any and all help is appreciated!
  12. I like the amazing design of the Xperia Z2 and of course the awesome work done by dbrand on the Linus Tech Tips skin
