  1. The only feature listed that I'd use, IF I was to keep stock ROM, would be Selective Focus.

  3. If I won this 5820 I'd probably try saving up to make a computer and upgrade from my current AMD gaming system, and sell that one. my FX-8120 is not the best for WoW, and is showing signs of overclocking age, as my system's starting to crash.
  4. The item I like the most is the Antec 1250 because of the unique innovation included. The fact that the pumps and fans are one in the same means you can reduce noise levels when at idle. I'm concerned though by various parts though. having the pumps built into the fans themselves means that you're unable to customize fan options, or replace damaged fans. I'm also concerned by the decision to have the pumps in parallel as labeled on the website, rather than series, which increases flow rate AND pressure, whereas parallel only increases flow rate. With how much the radiator protrudes and the fact you are almost required to have it mounted in a top exhaust vent means you'd better want to show off your unique cooling solution. In the end, innovation for innovation's sake is not exactly a bad argument. without trying new ideas and pushing the envelop, it won't lead to newer, better ideas.
  5. I'm SO glad that the 900 series did away with the crappy old display connector options of yester-decade, but didn't go far enough. I want to see ALL mini-displayport connectors. What does DVI provide that displayport doesn't? Backwards compatibility? And anything below HDMI 2.0 is already unexciting. Just bundle an adapter with each card. I want the connector slot to consume only a single PCI slot, that way those that use single-slot water coolers can save PCI-E slots on their motherboard. Too many motherboards only allow you to connect up to 3 MAX graphics cards, with no room for sound card, raid card, or other accessory card if you want. I'm thinking of shifting to a test bench and using PCI-E risers for that reason. I wish the GTX 970's were not so power-limited on release, even though the improvements in power savings were amazing. these Zotac cards with their dual 8-pin connectors theoretically solve that, but as Linus said the power limit still trips when attempting to push them. I really dislike the idea of triple-slot graphics cards. they're only really practical in single-card setups.
  6. Great job on the million subs everyone at Linustech. I often link your reviews to family and friends. sometimes though I wonder if family would respect me the same if I linked them some of your videos, like "lets find the sausage".... I was hoping I'd be able to win the ASUS JZ originally, but whoever wins it now would have put in more effort than me and should be rewarded.
  7. well there's lots of things I like in the sony xperia z2. memory of 3G is a BIG one, but IP67, 20MP camera, external SD slot, and that screen are nice features. what I don't like about it is super LCD instead of AMOLED, that software (I would put a custom rom on it) and so far a lack of CDMA radio. that rules out my Ting account. I like the Dbrand website, as it's functional, responsive, and scales reasonably with ultra-wide resolutions, pricing, and great pictures for comparison of each skin, BUT what I would like to see is the inclusion of screen protectors as an option. it's something that Skinomi has in addition of various skin options.
  8. if it was to be used as such, I'd say the most significant feature of this laptop that others don't have is the four speakers with included subwoofer
  9. Part I love the most is screen size combined with resolution/UI designed to use that PPI. Being able to multitask while typing on larger buttons makes it much easier to get stuff done.

  11. I'm going to guess that a lot of grievances could be addressed by just having a model that is a stand-alone receiver/amp to drive a speaker of your choosing. with how much these cost, the theoretical cost savings would be put towards your own driver while costing the same. that would address Linus' issue of not having a compelling surround config for his living room. just give it basic specs like 20w@6ohms/15w@8ohms or whatever. that way you have the OPTION to drive bigger speakers than tiny bookshelf speakers.
  12. the short of it is if the redux line only shaves a few dollars off the cost I don't think it's worth it for me at least. I can live with fans that don't live up to 18dBA, as long as they're not 40+dBA like my scythe jyuni. Without seeing a performance comparison, I have nothing to base these redux fans off of, since I haven't tested $20 noctua fans. owning the stock NZXT fans, scythe kaze jyuni 1900rpm fans, and B-gears Blaster 140mm and 120mm, I can say that the NZXT fans suck, the scythe jyuni fans are only airflow optimized while being loud as HELL doing so, while incorporating bushings, but my B-gear Blasters, while being cheap looking and having little data and research to back them up, are significantly quieter than my scythe fan while performing equal or better (double bearings), including the speced "3.5mm static pressure", all while being only $10. oh, and the scythe fan was fragile. one of the only fans I've broken. I'm with ya Linus on them being static optimized making a big difference. as it is they're only good as a case fan.
