  1. I found my old Galaxy S GT-I9000 a couple of days back and started using it as my secondary device. After some time, i noticed it had horrible signal reception. It was bought in Australia(Unlocked) and now I'm using it in India, will changing the baseband help? P.S. I'm a complete rooting newb, i've never rooted any device in the past
  2. I'm an iOS user for the past 3 years now, and i just came across my old Galaxy S GT-I9000 a couple of days back. I started using it as my secondary device but found out that the signal reception is horrible. I don't know much about rooting and stuff(btw nice guide) but since I bought the device in Australia(unlocked) and i'm now using it in India, can changing the baseband/modem help me?
  3. I found LinusTechTips when i was in the 8th grade(in mid 2008), a geeky kid wanting the highest end hardware to game. I always wanted to pursue a career in computer science(for which i'm currently studying), and your channel helped me understand certain things about computer hardware, software, troubleshooting. It got me interested in many other things such as modding, PC aesthetics, etc. Since i watched your video for the first time, i have been hooked and haven't left. It's been amazing watching this channel and community grow. Thank you for doing this and giving us a second and honest opinion on many things. I liked the various build guide videos and the handy tech under $100 videos, loved those formats, and the techquickie format.
  4. Apart from the improved display, I like it's striking looks.
  5. I like the ability to customize it(to a certain extent) like a custom ROM and also retain my warranty  Thanks LG, Linus and Tech Tips team
  6. How can i find my laptop's battery level on the logon screen itself? The OS is Windows 7 Thanks.
  7. 1.I have 2 old 80 GB Seagate drives, one of which is my boot drive. I have another 500 GB Seagate drive for mass storage and 2 external 500 GB Transcend drives. I have this setup because the boot drive came with my system, the other 80 GB drive was a refurbished one for a compelling price at the time, the 500 GB was bought from my savings for storage expansion and the 1 TB didn't fit my budget. The external 500 GB drives were given to me by my sister as a present. I have all my data spanned across them in a really unreliable and unorganized way. 2. 11. According to what I've heard, the stock Intel thermal compound is good enough and people usually don't change it, maybe the higher temperature on your CPU is due to changing it. That's what I think, I'm not so sure about it though
  12. Thanks for your reply guys. I'm in kind of a trouble because of some market strikes in my region, so couldn't get my hands on a new thermal compound yet. Will get it ASAP and change it. Since my CPU is quite old, will check for temp stability with the stock cooler first, if they're acceptable, i'll go with an aftermarket cooler and overclock. Thanks for the elaborate pics PcBlackBelt
  13. Ok i'll try that, thanks for your help. Maybe that's the reason because its been 2 to 3 years since i've changed the thermal compound
  14. The airflow in my case is horrible and it's placed in a closed desk kind of thing with only the front of the case exposed. I live in India, so the cheapest airflow optimised case in the US is also expensive for me here. What cooler would you recommend for a reasonable price? Well I just found out that my motherboard supports overclocking my CPU to a certain extent and so wanted to just test it before doing anything. I did not tinker with it. Thanks for the replies
