  1. Hey all, specs are as follows: I5 2500k Msi Z77A-GD55 8Gb of G-Skill memory, 1600mhz 7970 OCZ ZT series 750w psu Having a bit of an issue that has me stumped. My computer seems to run fine for days, weeks or even months at a time without issue (no bluescreens, perfectly stable etc) and will go to sleep and wake with no issues. The problem I'm having is that when I turn it off overnight sometimes it won't post when I try to turn it on in the morning. I can restart through windows fine or even hit the reset button however when I turn it off for any extended period of times I can't get it to boot. When I hit the power button all the fans spin up and the power light comes on however the it won't post. If I leave it for a while or keep turning it off and on again it will post and boot like normal. I've reset the cmos and removed all overclocks/tweaks I was running which did not solve the problem. I've removed the graphics card aswell as removed and shuffled around the memory, neither of which has helped. I'm wandering if this is possibly related to the motherboard, cpu or psu as these are the only things I haven't tested. There no stability issues whatsoever once its booted and I can put it to sleep for days and it will wake up just fine, I just can't seem to turn it off. Any help appreciated. Please let me know if need any more info.
  2. Hey all, I was hoping some of you might be able to help me put together a basic build for a friend of mine at university. The computer will mostly be used for basic word processing, browsing the internet etc and occasionally Solidworks or Autocad/Inventor. It's been a while since I've follow tech closely and I'm not really sure whats the go with the current generation of processors so I was hoping for a little help getting a build together. The budget will be about $1200 AUD for just the computer. Not sure whether it's worth including a graphics card as this system won't be used for gaming at all, mostly need help deciding on a CPU and motherboard combo. Any input appreciated, hopefully this is enough information otherwise feel free to ask questions. Cheers
  3. Love SSD's, one of the best upgrades I've done to my pc however my 120gb SSD only has 300mb of storage remaining.
  4. Probably a waste of money if you're only using them for gaming. They certainly won't be bad for gaming, but they're well overqualified I'd say, buy something suited to your kind of music or for movies depending on what else you'll use them for.
  5. Updated bios and it works like a charm
  6. Hey guys, just bought a tv tuner for my htpc (AMD-E350) and the sytem will not post with the card. The card works fine in my other system however I can't seem to boot with the card in my htpc. Card is a Leadtek PxDVR3200H if this is of any help. Any help appreciated, cheers.
  7. My favourite thing about this phone would have to be the thin besel and the positioning of the buttons on the rear of phone.
  8. Cheers for the advice, will have a look over later tonight. I've done a system restore for the time being and it has happened again yet however it's only been a couple of hours and the problem has been intermittent.
  9. Hey guys, running three monitors here in extended desktop and just recently I've been having an issue where when awakening my monitors from standby/sleep only two of the three will turn back on(monitor stays black, when I turn it on and off it says it is receiving no signal). I have an amd HD7970 running the latest version of catalyst. I was running beta drivers for a few weeks with no issues then updated once this issue started. I haven't made any major changes that I can think of so I'm not sure what could be causing the issue, any help appreciated.
  10. If you're on a budget you can get strips of RGB led's with a remote off of ebay for about $10 (Like here), if you know how to solder you should be able to wire them up to a molex connector quite easily.
  11. I just meant shipping would be astronomical, it'd be expensive enough if you wanted it shipped here in aus. Plus the amount you save buying from the US is only like $30 on the case
  12. Hey mate, threw this build together on PCCG and it comes to $1875 (didn't put the lights in). Probably a bit more than it would cost from the US but shipping would put it fairly close I'd immagine. If you're insistant on buying from the US don't buy the case from there for obvious reasons. On another note, what's you're primary use for this system? If you're gaming you could far better performance for the same money if you didn't spend so much on the motherboard and memory, I would especially look at a better graphics card if you're playing games.
  13. What exactly were you planning on buying? With shippnig costs I can't immagine you're saving any money buying from the states. Have you priced up a build on australian sites? Personally I find PCCaseGear and Umart to be the cheapest. Odds are it's going to be cheaper to just buy from here seeing as shipping costs from the US are usually really high. Edit: Have you taken the exchange rate into account also?
  14. '91 CBR250RR, nothing special but it's my first bike and I can't get much better till I get my full motorcycle license, still love it though.
  15. Firstly I would try and test your gpu in another system if that's possible for you to do. Assuming it is the gpu I would talk to new egg and see if they're willing to do anything for you (though afaik they're not obliged to do anything), normally however you would have to rma it through the manufacturer.
