NorseShadow's Achievements

  1. Yeah with the Windows.old-something folder, but that I deleted to free up storage space before I desided I needed a new laptop, so I cannot backroll the standard way.
  2. In my posession is an wonderfull Dell Latitude 3330 that has been my trustworty companion through 3 long years of upper secondary school, but now, before I start university, I find myself looking for something with a little bit more capacity in the battery. So, time to say goodbye to the Dell, but I do not want to part with my W10 operating system. Now, I have a way to install my redundant W8.1, but I was wondering if there is an easier way to backroll the OS without a full disk format and reinstalling the OS because this would also mean the painfull process of reinstalling all the Latitude 3330 drives as the partion holding those on the disk is gone. So simple question: Can I install W8.1 in such a way on a W10 PC that it wipes the disk clean of it on the process?
  3. Would not mind being able to expand with dual GPU in SLI config later on, but for the moment single is fine. And I am aware of the benefits behind Z97, but thanks for the tip though
  4. I just hope I can get my hands on anything from these lists without paying a ton of money for shipping and customs (customs being a bitch in Norway). Thanks for the help so far Also, ATX or EATX?
  5. Ripping BD to files. No pirating here, also we have the discs at our cabin when we are done with them.
  6. Wow, here the same CPU at the cheepest is still 33% more than that.
  7. He wanted it because he didn't want, and I quote, "A shit blu-ray player like yours" which refers to mine, that cannot play BD without frameskipping like hell. And to answer your first question, we both live in Norway, where everything is expensive like shit. RAM and SSD I have ordered from DX.com so I got it a little cheaper. Also, the BD-writer is not ordered. The rest of the components are. He just wants one, but if you can suggest any good BD-readers only, please do.
  8. Hey, my brother is letting me build his first PC for my first PC build, and has given me a $2000 budget to work with (which is a lot more than my planned $300 just-for-fun build I have now postponed). Some guidelines we settled on was first an Intel i7 k processor so he can more easily multitask and overclock if he so desires. We have looked at the 4790K, and wonder if there is any benefit in swapping it out for the 5820K, or a totally different CPU? Next we have ordered 16GB (2x8) Kingston HyperX Fury RAM and 240GB SSD + 2TB Seagate Barracuda internal HDD, and he want an internal BD-writer. This adds up to just above $900. What we need next is motherboard, GPU, PSU, case and hopefully aftermarket CPU cooler. Any suggestions? I know that is A LOT to ask for with $1100 left, figuring that most people say ‘put 50% in the GPU’. Thing is, my brother wants a fast PC, not a beast, so good CPU, RAM and SSD comes first. The GPU he can later upgrade, so the core (motherboard) should be a good one and PSU to power everything and any GPU. Anyone have any helpful tips and inputs for the completion of this build? Must he pump more money into this to get the rest of the parts, for what we have picked out so far he wants (maybe just for show?). Also, he has not said anything about price for externals, so I don’t know if the 2K should cover headset, keyboard and mice as well. All help is much appreciated, as this is a big build I think for a first timer (me). If anyone has a complete 2K build to recommend, please do! Saves me a lot of time with parts picking. To sum up, what he want so far is: 1. Intel core i7-4790k CPU 2. Kingston HyperX Fury 240 GB SSD 3. Kingston HyperX Fury 16 GB RAM 4. 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD 5. Blu-Ray R/W 6. Big case Rest is yet to be decided

  10. Hey LTT forum, I just upgraded the RAM sticks on my system, and now my eyes turn towards the GPU. Im looking for something that is compatible with my motherboard, fits inside the case and can get enough power from my PSU. Any tips or sugestions are most welcome. Or is it no good until I swap out my case and motherboard with something bigger and newer? My system as it is right now: CPUIntel Core i7-2600 @ 3.4Ghz MotherboardMSI B75MA-P45 RAMKingston HyperX FURY 16GB (2x8GB) GPUSapphire Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 CaseCooler Master Elite 310 StorageSeagate Barracuda 1TB + 500GB HDDs PSUSilver Power SP-SS500 500W PSU Display(s)Samsung 27" SyncMaster CoolingIncluded fans KeyboardLogitech G105 MouseLogitech G400 (MX518) SoundLogitech G35/Logitech OEM S-150 Operating SystemWindows 7
  11. I do a little bit of Photoshop and Flash for my IT class, but nothing that needs 20GB (I imagine), but I will test it with 20GB just for fun
  12. So how will I fare with Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM Blue?
  13. Hey LTT forum, could you help me out a litte? Currently on my MSi B75MA-P45 motherboard I have two sticks of 2GB RAM of a kit, Kingston ValueR 1333MHz. If I'm looking for an upgrade, is it best to add lets say 2x4GB of RAM to the sticks I have, or swap them out? Would 4 sticks for the total of 12GB RAM running 1333MHz give a better or worse output than two sticks for 8GB 1600MHz? Is my motherboard even compatible with SDRAM or must I go looking for DRAM sticks?
  14. Like I said, battery is working fine. Most likely the charger that is malfunctioning. Going to borrow another to see is that works, If so, I need a new charger. If not, Im shit out of luck.
  15. Hey LinusTechTips, any computersawy people in here with knowledge around batteries and chargers? So what is wrong is that my Dell Latitude 3330 has been stuck in 39% power the whole afternoon since I got back from school. When I hover over the battery icon with my marker it reads the message "Plugged in, not charging". I cannot figure out why it wont charge, Someone said it might be a dead battery, but I have only had it for one and a half year. And the program BatteryInfoView states it is fully functional and still only at 87% wear level. Restarting the computer did not help, checking the charger to make sure everything was plugged in right, and I even tried dusting the plug that goes in the back of the laptop. Any suggestions? I have the PC through school, and could hand it over to the IT department, but I have kinda been overstepping my rights a teensy weensy bit. I would hate for them to find out I have gained administrator rights through some clever computing, and reset everything so I must start over. Or worse, be in danger of loosing my PC. I have paid for it, but technicaly it is not "mine" until I finish school, so if I could fix this problem myself that would be great. Any help is much apreciated. So what should I do? Get a new battery, charger, or is this a software problem that re-activating some clever function will fix? Maybe it charges when the PC is shut down?
