  1. Did I fuck up? I used PIA, and downloaded a game. Leading to an email from my ISP (Bell Canada). Not sure what to do next (pretty terrified), It really scares me that they exactly know what files were downloaded. Reading the email quotes "Please note that receipt of a content owner's notice may not mean there has been any legal action against you.". According to the email, the public IP that was stated was my non VPN IP, and not the IP on the VPN. Also, I streamed this game on Twitch.tv with a facecam. Am I SOL? In the case that there is legal action against me, anyone know how long will it take to receive notification? -Also I used Utorrnet.
  2. Look online for the benchmarks of the 1070Ti, and compare them to your current 2060. Tbh if the performance difference isn't much I would keep the 2060, to much of a hassle to return it and ship it etc etc.
  3. No, you do not need an amp for it. I also owned an HD 599, didn't need an amp. Once you start using headphones that are like 150 ohm, then that's when I'll consider an AMP/DAC combo.
  4. Of course they don't add anything to the EQ. But they boost the overall sound, so for someone like me who is DHH, they assist in hearing frequencies that otherwise I would't be able to hear. Now, for someone who isn't DHH, if their headphones are lacking mids, or highs. Amplifying it can make you hear them easier, and sometimes more with more clarity. Again I'm talking about this coming from my experiences.
  5. I dont know the mathematical side of it. However I can speak from experience. I do have headphones that are 150 ohms. I even have an aviation headset that are 150ohms, that I use for playing Microsoft Flight Simulator X. My when plugged into my mobo, they do sound very weak, lacking sparkle, and lacking sharpness. They are not as full as being plugged my amp/dac combo. Speaking of interference his motherboard, (MSI Z170A GAMING PRO CARBON) does have a separate "grounded out" section for audio. Sure interference can still happen but I think its suffice enough to not worry about it.
  6. I never said, powering them. I said drive them to its full potential.
  7. It's 150 ohm headphones, legit he's not going to able to use it to its full potential.
  8. Few different factors. The HyperX Cloud Alpha are gaming are intended for "gaming". Now I use that term loosely because usely games especially FPS, there are a lot of explosions, gunfire, and footsteps. They all use (for the most part) bass, or sub bass. That's why a lot of "gaming" headphones are bass heavy. They tend to focus more on those noises. Now you might prefer your airpods becuase they are more "neutral" sounding than your hyperx. Snice they're more neutral, they will have more mids and highs, which will compliment the rest of the frequencies more better. Leading to a sound thats more pleasing to listen to. Bassy headphones tend to lack mids, with harsh highs. They just dont compliment each other.
  9. I would stay with Schiit. For $100 you get a decent amp/DAC combo. You wont find a better deal, if it doesnt work you can always send it for a RMA! I believe they also pay for shipping it back. If you get that JDS lab atom you'll still need to buy a DAC, nothing is a good deal as Schiits audio's Fulla.
  10. I found an add posting for a HD 600 on Kijiji, the guy claims that it is in mint condition and he only worn them a few times. As I question why hes trying to get rid of them, he says "I'm just looking to sell them". He's selling them for $350 CAD (about $267 USD), but I talked him down to $325 ($232). Is this a good deal? And if so, How do I go about verifying that it isn't a counterfeit. I asked him if he has the original receipt he said no. He does however have the original box and wires. In the other hand, I was thinking of getting my first tube Amp for about the same price. I haven't decided on what amp yet, but something around that price range. My setup consists of a HD 650 plugged into an Schiit Audio Mangi 3, and Modi 2.Now there's rumors floating around about the HD 600 family are getting replaced with a newer headphone/newer line. I've never owned a HD 600, but listening sessions with my friend make it not as bassy as my HD 650. However the clarity is much more present, especially on the trebles and vocals. I've only had about an hour to sit down with them. As my friend (who owns a pair) lives in Calgary, and I live in Toronto. So my experience with them aren't the best case scenario. Now, do you guys think that the HD 600 and HD 650 are too similar sounding, that dropping $300 ($220 USD) on them would be pointless? Or should I pass on the offer and just buy a new tube amp. I have attach his pictures that in posted on that ad here. So, What do you think? Are they fakes? Also I'm open for recommendations for tube amps!
  11. Cheers for pointing this out, I never heard of this issue. I just opened up my Fulla it seems to be that particular unit. I mine surprisingly doesn't have any solder splats. After a quick google search, many people are complaining about it. I guess I just got lucky didn't get a "bad" unit. I got mine on the day of release, seems like the QC department went downhill ever since release. Thoughts on the JDS Labs Atom Amp? Sucks that it doesn't come with a built in DAC. Would've kicked the "Schiit" out of the Fulla.
  12. Yeah, it's way to dangerous to use while outside. Not only that you cant hear your surroundings, I always have a fear that someone will swoop it off my head and steal em ahah. But honestly I only used these inside my house. I mostly used my ie 80 outside, as they solve both problems that I mentioned above But the bose are good! Cheers!
  13. Haven't had a problem yet, maybe the thing I notice is that they disconnect more often? Idunno, to mee I dont realize anything wrong with it.
  14. Massdrop is have a really good limited run of headphones right now. One of them being is the HD 58X. It's very good. It's better than any other headphones in its price range. The only problem being is that they are open backs, and they need an amp to be driven to their full potential. Snice they are open back noises out side the headphones will be bearable, but your music sound stage and quality will sound amazing. I would really recommend getting the HD 58X, you can hold off for an AMP/DAC for now. I would buy them, and just get an amp when you can. You can get away with Schiit Audio's Fulla Amp and DAC combo. It's a super affordable amp/DAC combo. Sure it doesnt come with a microphone, but you can just use your old ones on your neck until then. Trust me. These are a steal for $150 USD, the sound quality is phenomenal.
  15. If I can use them in Canada as a daily driver, you shou will d be fine they quite nice actually they're like mini ear muffs if they fit you good and create a proper seal!
  16. Tbh, your 6850k should still have some life in it. Just overclock it, I'm still running a 4790k, streaming & playing games fine.
  17. Aren't gorilla glass supposed to be sound reflective, not sound abortive? Buy yeah, I guess I gotta find some store that even allows you to try it on.
  18. Ahh, hmm you think they might be able to help out a fellow deaf and hard of hearing person? The only thing I am worried about is if gets muddier, since there are not as much air surrounding the speaker to propel it forward.
  19. Correct me if i am wrong, but I swear there was a way to overclock non K CPUs. I don't remember if it was kaby lake era or skylake? I remember you can OC on the bios, not sure what the steps were. I know it was patched now, but mobo, with a bios before the fix could OC a non K chip. I'll try to investigate.
  20. If you have closed cans, the sound waves bounce around inside the cans and eventually into your ears. Open backs tend to leak out, due newton's third law of motion. Sure it is an added benefit that you can hear your surrounding more. But you do lose some sound due to it bouncing off your earlobe to outside your ears, as they leak out. If your put 2 identical headphones, assuming that they have same drivers and same ohms, and they're both at the same volume. You'll be able to hear the closed back ones more than the openbacks. Sure its minimal different, but for someone has troubles hearing sound. It's a HUGE different. I am not claiming that they are going to make myself magically "hear" everything, but since they will be bouncing inside the cans rather than losing some due to leakage. I just thought that It will "help" me in hearing more highs at lower volumes. Rather than cranking them all the way possibly risking damage to the speakers (I have popped many headphone in my life, one of them being an HD 600).
  21. Im using an HD 650 w/ Schiit audio Mangi 3, and Modi 2. They can game fine, considering that theres a drop on for the HD 6XX on massdrop they are well worth getting. However you will NEED an amp. Since those HD 650/6XX are 300 ohm. If you don't already have an amp and are not in the market for one then get the AKG 7XX on massdrop. They're about the same price as the HD 6XX, but easier to drive (62 ohm). You would be able to run it off your PC onboard DAC just fine. However If you are willing to spend a bit more, and upgrade your entire setup. The HD 6XX are well worth the price, the cheapest Amp/DAC combo that can "drive" the HD 6XX/650 are the Fulla from Schiit Audio. Now, I say "drive" because they BARELY drive them. They sound fine, however they start to distort a little bit when you go about 65-70% on the volume knob. But it's a great starting point, did I also mention that you can use the Fulla in DAC only mode? So if you ever get a better amplifier, you can use your fulla as a DAC.
  22. Yeah, that Mayflower O2+DAC (revB) is about the same. Hey, if you're happy with your soundcard then you're happy. If you want more, then get a new amp/DAC combo. Like I said, it's really hard to tell the different sometimes. Personally, I don't think it's wise to spend another $200 just for a more neutral sound Amp/DAC combo if you like what you already have.
  23. Honestly, the best bang for the buck. Would be the HD 6XX from massdrop. It's a massdrop "drop" of the Sennheiser HD 650. They're open back $500 dollar headphones off of sennheiser's website. Another good option would be the AKG K7XX. If you do decide to get the HD 6XX (650) you'll need an AMP to drive them. As they're 300 Ohm headphones, they need more power to be driven properly to their full potential. If you don't have a Amp lying around, the AKG K7XX are a better option. They are easier to drive (62 ohm), you can probably drive them on your PC no problem, and they also sound great!
