Whenever I open notepad it launches on my left monitor way too big so I cannot see the top to move the window around or do anything. I use windows key+left arrow to get it to a size I can manage, but is there a way to fix it from doing the same thing every time I open a new window? Its annoying. I have restarted my computer several times and have no missing updates.

I was having an issue where my computer was performing SIGNIFICANTLY better with task manager open vs closed (see thread below). After many nights of all kinds of virus and rootkit scans coming back clean I finally remembered I could just use performance monitor to see what processes were eating up my CPU power. I discovered that it was windows explorer itself that was pegging my CPU at 100 whenever task manager was closed. So I simply reset explorer and the problem went away. I gained even more performance now. Unfortunately if I reboot my computer the issue comes right back. While manually resetting explorer every time I boot my computer isnt exactly the end of the world im sure there has to be a better solution. Everything has been updated. Even all the optional windows updates. Anyone have experience with this issue or any ideas on what might be causing explorer to bug out?

Having task manager open nearly doubles my FPS in some games.

I cant speak to your issue but I was finally able to "resolve" my issue. Something is bugged with windows explorer eating up all my CPU power. All I have to do is reset explorer when I turn my computer on and the problem goes away. Now I just need to figure out why it bugs out with each reboot... -

I was afraid this might be the case. I suppose its new windows time one of these days.... unless someone knows how to find/get rid of this kind of thing? -
I noticed recently that having task manager open bumps my FPS in warzone from ~80fps to ~150fps. I decided to test in cinebench R23 as well. With task manager open I am over 9k points, but with task manager closed I am barely over 5k points. I have already ran Malwarebytes and found nothing. Does anyone have any experience with something similar happening?

I have a new build with the i7 10700k and I am trying to get a stable all core overclock at 5.1 or 5.2 I would say I know pretty much nothing about overclocking, but I successfully had stable overclocks on my old i7 7700k and i5 4690k, but they were pretty conservative overclocks. I want to actually push this chip this time. Motherboard: Gigabyte Z490 UD AC (rev. 1.0) I was using 51 and 48 ring. 0AVX. Fixed vcore. 1.316 Vcore. I tried normal to low LLC. While running the default prime 95 temps would never go past 85c, but it will just randomly crash after a few hours. Cinebench R20 will spike to low 90s before the fans ramp up and bring it down to low 80 for the rest of the test. I was playing games for hours with no issues with temps all 70-80 and it just randomly crashed around the 4 hour mark. Some of the crashes are a BSOD where it will reboot itself after a few seconds and other times my system hard locks and I need to flip the switch on the back to get going again. Not sure what that means. I have gone back to default settings as of today because I need to use my PC for work today and couldnt risk it randomly crashing. Only thing currently changed is I have the XMP profile on for my ram. Not sure it matters but I have a slight overclock on my GPU at the moment. 90/666 edit: BIOS has been updated to the newest version I could find.

I built my PC last week. I have not been able to wake it from sleep one time. Ill move the mouse or hit my keyboard and my three monitors backlight will light up. My webcam lights up for face ID and nothing else happens. It stays like that forever. I have to reset my the power on my PSU and start over each time. I have already changed the intel power setting that turns off your SSD while sleeping. I have all the power settings put to high and performance. I have completely reset the mobo to default other than XMP. I have removed my GPU overclock as well. I am completely lost on what else I can do. I dont want to run the PC all night and I would prefer not completely shutting down sometimes because there are things I want to resume right where I left it. Here is my hardware: CPU Intel Core i7 10700k Motherboard Gigabyte z490 RAM 32GB 3200Mhz GPU EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Storage 2tb M.2 SSD + 2tb 7200 rpm trash PSU EVGA 750w gold Display(s) ASUS 1440p 27" 144Hz 1ms Cooling Deepcool Castle 240EX Keyboard Logitech 810 Mouse Logitech G Pro wireless

Could possibly be a bad display cable? Do you have another display or cable you can test?

If I lock it to anything less than 1.27 I crash under load. -

Since im using fixed vcore if I go under 1.27 itll crash. If I change off a fixed vcore the spikes are crazy and the temps go too high as well.
