  1. Can someone validate it with linux and other OS, i run my gtx 960 on linux and i game some opengl and wine opengl DX wrapper, and i havent notice anything, the rig is about 3 years old now and i am happy with it.
  2. yep, get a 860k if you are on a budget if you want to spend more, get a fx6300 or fx8350 and if you want to spend even more , go for intel 4th gen, like i5 4690 or even extreme i7 4790k those are the cpu's that are the best to buy at the moment, skylake is over priced for 2% more power than 4th gen i7
  3. I want to buy a 1080 or 1440 monitor for proffesional use, i need an IPS panel with a glossy, yes glossy, panel, for the most accurate color reproduction a monitor for a good price can do. Does anyone know if the HP 27Xi with LED backlighting and IPS, etc is a good monitor ? Or does anyone know good IPS glossy panels for under 320$USD, i tried looking at korean monitors, but they are bit too risky coz if that screen doesnt work correctly i dont have the money for a replacement, and good luck getting it shipped back in time for RMA. Glossy is important, i know it many ppl dislike it, but i want it, it makes the colors a whole lot better.
  4. or use linux haha seriously, it will do the job, its just not windows, which with xeons is probaly a good thing
  5. I used them all Or at least .. Ubunto, Lubunto, Kubunto, Mint -Mate, Mint -Cinneman, Fedora, Debian, OpenSUSE, tiny core, core and ubunto server not arch tho, but still a lot
  6. Forget it, i used my 980ti for a while for minign, and within 2 days i made 1.5$ , and probs way more energy cost for the rig. With something like a 750ti , no chance of minign much if you want to do it just for the fun, mine easier coins, like blake coin and photon coin. But no one sells or buys any of those as they are just bitcoin rip offs, so its just for the fun of seeing your gpu burn at max
  7. I wanna support some of the ppl that do amazing work like freenet and the tor network, and i wanted to build a pc and run it as a node for both of them, not to use the actual networks, but to support them with more storage for freenet, and more bandwith for Tor. I am gonna use linux, probaly debian as it is very very stable and crazy long supported with updates, plus i know every platform very well, so linux gives me less cost , and more stability. Does anyone know some kind of build for this workload. Freenet just says its gonna use min 200Mb of your RAM, and 20% of 1 core of your CPU, but idk if its gonna be 20% of an modern i7, or of an Q6600. Important for me is the energy cost, but not as much the price of the build, as long as its below 700$ Most important is that it uses reliable HDD storage space, around 2TB which i can put in RAID 1 for 1TB Anyone got suggestions ?
  8. well sata isnt that big of a problem for reaching stability, and RAM, well my ram at least (love hyperX) does any frequency i want it to be. Orginially 2400Mhz DDR3, can also run at 2204Mhz, or 1894Mhz. As long as you use a preset below your max ram frequency and then up the BCLK its gonna be fine, as long as it doesnt go over 2400Mhz. However, i know its a horrible horrible horrible idea doing that to your RAM, its likely never gonna be fully stable, and one day fail on you
  9. But why are so many ppl 'OMG we can overclock locked intel cpu's' when you can do it always. And if you dont have any PCI-E cards or PCI cards in your system, you can actually get rll stable BCLK OC's on Haswell, Ivy or Sand bridge cpu's
  10. Why do ppl get so worked up over base clock overclocking on Skylake with AsRock boards, when i always could and since a long time always overclock my non-k cpu's over the base clock. My 4790 non K, overclcks its base clock on my Z97 board, and its been like this always for me with non k cpu's on the Z something or OC able chipset So whats so special about Skylake doing that, any generation of intel and even locked AMD cpu's has done base clock overclocking so far
  11. I dont know if someone already posted this, or it is just my problem But, since the video of the major server failure on youtube, the upload schedule is messed up, for my timezone the videos come out at 1pm in the afternoon and the last release was yesterday at 8 or 9. And today there is still no video, i guess this is becuase they are still trying to recover the date , and migrating it again etc, so the production is on halt. But iwant to know if Vessel watchers have the same problem, or other youtube watchers, or if anyone has more info about it thx
  12. on 64bit machines dont run 32 bit software, it might seem to non-tech ppl like it would be easier for the pc to run it because its only 32 bit while your pc can handle 64, however thats a total mistake. You have to see it more like reaching the full potential, on a 64bit platform, a 64bit OS, will be able to utilize 100% of your hardware, a 32bit OS might not, and not more than 4g, but thats your limitation anyway If you run a 64bit cpu, use a 64bit OS, its gonna run smoother, easier and possibly even faster, but defently NOT slower than the 32bit variant
  13. I need the cpu to run cool , for life long reasons, its meant to survive a days after days of rendering, so 24/7 100% loads, and 85 or 90c is not, not , not recommended by intel themselves
  14. yeah but for the price of the dark rock 3 i can get a water cooler, which will defently keep the temps more down
  15. i have a 4790, non k , so no OC but my ambient temp is really really high, about 35-39 C, the stock cooler makes it reach 85c easily, and sometimes even 90c, it stops it from turbo going and even thermal throtles it. I am looking at a hyper 212 evo , but i have to know that the temps will be lower, i want to reach 75 while rendering, so almost 100% load if the 212 evo is not enough i would go for a h110i, or similar 240mm cooler, but unless i really need to get it to reach below 75 under 100% , i don't want to spend the time Keep in mind, the ambient is really really hot it would be awesome if someone knows the tempratures the cpu gets with the coolers, and tell me if a evo 212 is enough, or i have to go with the more expensive h110 extra info I got a 980ti in the system as well, which kicks off some heat (running 83c on 100%) (55 idle) i am sitting at 51c idle with the stock cooler I won't do OC, i can't even do it, so i am only at 3.6ghz turbo to 4.0
