Adding third monitor

Hey, I have been offered a spare monitor which is going unused, I have two already, one via DVI the other via an HDMI-DVI adapter. The third one would have to use a display port but the monitor in question has only VGA and HDMI. I've seen a lot of stuff about active/passive displayport adapters and I see that it appears to be an issue with AMD graphics cards, but I am not planning on using eyefinity I just want the monitor as another screen for productivity. Would this adapter be suitable?

The video card I am using is an HD7870 Ghz.Ed.with 2x mini DP, 1x HDMI 1x DVI
