Disk drives from one pc into another

I'm going to upgrade a friends pc soon by puting parts from his second pc into his main pc. I'm still somewhat new to this so I need some help. I assume I can't just put the disk drives in the new pc and expect it to work because the pc will then have two disks running Windows. How do I empty the disks from windows and the current files so I can work around this? (All files can be deleted). And do I need to do this beforehand or can I do this when it's already in the new pc?

By "disks" you mean the hard drives (HDDs) or SSD right? How many do you have?

 

You can format the ones that windows isn't running on by going to where all of the disks are listed "My Computer" and right clicking on them and selecting "format".

 

As for the one windows is running on, you can format that while in the windows installer.

We'll be transfering 2 disks. 

 

The 'new' pc already has windows on it, so how do I access the installer?

Oh, in that case just hook it up and in the bios make sure the "new" drive is selected to boot first, then just format it like I said above.
