Hello everyone :)

My config is starting to feel a little slow, specialy when i play games that ask some computing power like RimWorlds, my CPU is working at 90% on that kind of games.
So here is my current config:

CPU Intel Core i5 4690 @ 3.50GHz
RAM 24,0 Go Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z97P-D3
Graphic Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (ASUStek Computer Inc)

PSU 650W

And i was making a new build on pcpartpicker.com and wondered if it was good :

CPU Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor

CPU cooler be quiet! - Shadow Rock Slim 67.8 CFM Rifle Bearing CPU Cooler

RAM Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory

Motherboard Gigabyte - Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0) ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

So, I have a few other questions:
Should i wait for the new gen to come out ?

I have choose an i7 but i don't know, i saw some people saying i5 is better for playing, so if you can help me...

Is getting an AMD better ?

Do you advice some sites to buy the parts ?

I live in France, the budget isn't really a problem, but it's not a reason to Just choose the most expensive things...

I have to monitor but only 1080p

I use my PC to play games and also work, i do some work on unity or else but most of the time my only use the cpu but not so much

I also plan to change my GPU few months later, when i will receive the paychekcs.

Thanks for reading, sorry for my english.

better cooler

I would get a 8600k, or a ryzen 7,

the i7-8700k is not much of an upgrade for gaming from a well overclocked 8600k in gaming and for productivity, go ryzen.

also that mobo is overkill, if you want wifi, then a gaming 5 should be fine.

you can also look at used LGA2011, like a 6900k or something.

1) Unless you're eyeing the i9-9900K, no. For example, an i7-8700K to an i7-9700K won't be a drastic change in performance.

2) An i7 will give you better FPS. What they mean is that an i5 is a better value, since it delivers most of the performance of an i7 in games, for less.

3) If we're talking strictly gaming, then no, Intel has, is, and will probably (at least for now) continue to be the way to go.

4) Whatever good tech stores there are in France. Sorry, don't live there.

5) Indeed, you're looking for the highest FPS at the lowest prices.

6) If you're satisfied with 1080P as your go-to resolution, then that's OK. Two monitors is great for multitasking as well, but you probably already knew that.

7) How often do you use it to work? A lot? If you do more work, go AMD. If you do more gaming, go Intel.

8) In that case, keep your 970, and get a GPU more powerful than it at the best price you can.

Hope this helps!
