Gaming PC upgrade

I am looking to upgrade my PC for upcoming games, i looked at many options but i don't feel like i want to spend quite a bit of money for 5-10% performance upgrade so i looked at bigger improvement, but further there appeared a bottleneck problem, linus video gave me a hope of upgrade happening when he said about resolution, currently i am playing on 1080p monitor but i am planning to upgrade my whole setup including desk and monitors so buying a 1440p monitor for better performance without bottleneck isn't a problem. Second thing is ram, the one i own is unavailable on the market except few ones which are twice as expensive, if i want to add next 8gb's the same specs will do or i need to switch both modules?

RAM: Crucial 8GB 1600MHz CL11
SSD: Samsung 860Evo 250GB
HDD: 1Tb Seagate 7200rpm + 2Tb Seagate 7200rpm
PSU: 650W no-name
I was thinking of buying a GTX 1070 and upgrading ram for next 8 gigs but i want to hear what you think i should do with this setup, thanks.

You're at the lower end spectrum when it comes to just dropping in a high end GPU for 1440p+ gaming.  If you can move fast, I'd grab the Gigabyte 1080 on Newegg for $449, another 8GB RAM and see where it lands you.

 

It's what I would do if I had budget constraints.  If have no constraints, I'd do what I did in my sig.  

 

I'm on the fence really.  You can't OC that CPU and I'm concerned how it would fare in a 1440p+ situation even tho you'd be using more GPU.

 

Yeah, get a good deal on a high end GPU and enjoy that for a bit.  Then think about upgrading the rest when Intel's new stuff breaks, you'll be able to make a good decision on Intel or AMD current of previous gen then.

 

Edit:  I don't want to really push you either way without knowing your available funds.

If you want to build a whole new rig now get this, otherwise just get the new GPU and another 8GB of RAM and then jump to a DDR4 platform when you have the money

I get it, upgrading doesn't make sense, thanks for the tips, i think i will stay with what there is and later sell actual rig and buy new one then instead of trying my best at trying to do something with it.

It's not quite that simple, IMO.  You're rig isn't bad, it's just aging.  If you want to spread out the funds a bit, get the GPU now and enjoy it.  It'll definitely give you alot more FPS than you're getting now.  Then upgrade the rest later.  

Either way isn't right or wrong, just depends on what you want to accomplish when.

I have the money to buy new setup but i think it's gonna kinda waste, i was planning to upgrade gpu because of it's low memory, i'm a huge fan of forza horizon series but i dont wanna buy a console (pc master race), the game was running out of video memory and this caused the fps drops from 50 to 15 at 720p (1080p was unplayable), game premiere is at the end of september but nvidia's new graphics cards are coming out month before, aren't gpus going to be cheaper then? or i should get one now because the difference won't be noticeable?

I just don't know.  I'd like to think that the 1080 will drop to $400 and the 1080Ti will be $600.  Will they?  No damn idea.

 

If the 1170 (?) comes out, it should be roughly the 1080 performance.  Will they price it at $400 like the 1070 (name sake pricing)?  Or $500 like the 1080 usually is (performance pricing)?

 

I would wager we all should grab some lube, cuz they're most likely going to screw us.

 

TLDR:  Buy the 1080 for $450, now. Use it, enjoy it, love it, game like a motherf*cker
