Project: 3 processors, 1 case

Division

I've been modding cases and doing little builds for about 15 years now. I was checking our local "craigslist" for some parts and I stumbled across a case that was one of those crazy things I saw when I was a kid. So I bought it. Thermaltake Mozart TX! xD The case was intended to be used as livingroom media center, containing a gaming PC in ATX standard, and HTPC in ITX standard. However I have other use cases, with slightly bigger hardware so there will be some modding. My project will have primary pc that will be my home server running FreeNAS, Plex server etc. As the server will be located in my garage/workshop, it will have secondary system that runs basic windows, and be basicly just my garage allround pc for looking stuff online, playing spotify, doing OBD diagnostics, configuring miniquads etc etc...

Server hardware has been bought already but it has not arrived yet, and I have no idea if it will even fit without big big mods. But we'll get into that later... Lets start with the secondary PC.

In stock config, the secondary ITX system is located behind the primary ATX motherboard. However I would like my systems to be on the same side of the case to get much cleaner build. This allows me to use the backside for cable management, PSU's etc...

Here is little preview how the secondary PC will sit in the upper compartment where normally is HDD rack.

Hardware for this secondary "Garage PC" is:

- Asus F2A85-M

- AMD A10-5800K

- Integrated HD7660 graphics

- Kingston Hyper X Genesis 1600MHz CL9 2x4Gb

- OCZ Agility 60Gb SSD

- Nexus NX-5000 530w PSU

I would like to upgrade the PSU to a modular one, and SSD I need slightly larger one. Where's mi sponsors? :D

The secondary system also needs a cooling solution, 120 sized AIO water cooling, because my old Thermalright Macho will not fit.

Another cool possibility would be building a custom water circuit for all 3 CPU's, but it might be out of my budget.

Garage PC got its home position mounted. Needs opening in the rear wall, and some finishing touches + possibly paint as its tray is not as shiny as Mozart.

Server mobo is looking for its place also. Only 2 standoffs in place yet, but its coming together. :) Going to build its standoff mount custom as I dont want to cut its original case in pieces.

Server hardware for now:

- HP Z800 Ver.003 motherboard

- 2x Intel Xeon E5620 (8 cores, 16 threads, 2.4ghz)

- nVidia GT520 low profile passively cooled GPU

- 16Gb of DDR3 ECC REG (mixed set of 1gb and 2gb sticks)

- 4Tb Seagate Ironwolf NAS drive

- PSU I dont have yet, HP original will not fit I think. Need to try.

Upgrades coming sooner or later:

- Second HDD for Mirror

- 6x4Gb mem sticks (24Gb, 12 per processor)

- 2x Intel Xeon X56-series 6-core processors for 12 cores, 24 threads... because why not :D

I'm not sure about cooling yet, it seems to be hard to make radiator fit so that it would still look nice. One possibility would be getting second Macho120 and put those on Xeons, and get some lower profile cooler on A10. Macho does not fit in the upper compartment. Also Z800 mobo is peaking out from the back, needs some custom work before its neat.. :D

Cooler clearance issue on upper "garage pc" fixed. :) Went with CM Masterliquid Lite 120. Plenty cooling for A10-5800K. Radiator is mounted on the rear space.

Xeon board got couple more standoffs to the front side of the case. Still need standoffs to the rear.

Xeon cooling also planned, I think I'm going double TR macho 120 Rev.A as I already have one from the APU machine. I dont trust cheap water cooling on server because pump would be spinning 24/7, and custom loop would cost more than the server itself.
