Gmod Crashes display driver

I have an issue with gmod crashing my display driver. I've played gmod on this current PC for a very long time, I've never had any issues with it. I have 16GB of ram, and a gtx 1060. A few months ago I took a break from the game, and wanted to start playing again a week or so ago. When I launched it, it went to a black screen, the courser flickered on screen for a bit, then it went to the desktop and told me the display driver has crashed. I've followed a bunch of guides online on how to fix this issue but no one has been able to help me. I'd really appreciate any assistance to resolve the issue so I can get back to playing with friends. Thank you.
