Hi, about a month ago I bought a pre-built gaming pc and it was great. I realized it was very hot due to the stock cpu cooler. A friend gave me a CM Hyper 212 evo and I was in the middle of installing it except I hadn't realized that he forgot to give me the back plate. I put back the old cooler and started playing some games. But something was weird, I was lagging when I shouldn't be. I went to UserbenchMark and my pc status was doing way worse than expected. I thought it was because I put too much thermal compound when I put back my old cooler but when I put less thermal compound my pc was doing even worse...

My Specs are:

RX 580

MSI B360M Bazooka

8gb ddr4 Ram

i5 8400

I'm new to this kind of stuff so yeah

... What does this even mean? The Hyper 212 has no back plate or any signs of additional mounting hardware except the actual heatsink and the X-bracket.

There's this other part where you have to put it under the motherboard and I don't know what it's called.

sorry...

Oh, that backplate. How did you even get the cooler on without it?
