Hi LTT forum, I have a system which has a GTX 970, i5 6500 and a b150 bazooka. The system also has 16g ram, 120g ssd and a 1tb hard drive. It meets my needs for now but I plan to upgrade it for 2k gaming. Any recommendations? Should I wait for the 11xx series to come out? Please let me know.

Your GTX 970 should be able to push 2K. If not, I would aim for a 1060 6Gb or 1070.

For the CPU, a jump to the 6700 or 6700K with a Z170 board to allow overclocking should be fine.

if budget isn't a huge deal then i would upgrade the CPU first even though you won't see a huge fps boost on higher resolutions and then wait for the next gen graphics cards.

if you get a i7 it will last you for many years and shouldn't hold you back for when you upgrade the GPU.
