Dota 2 poor performance

Recently I have been playing Dota 2 and experiencing low framerates and severe stuttering if I have basically anything else running on my computer. This shouldn't happen as my PC is very overspecced for Dota and should easily be playing it while say watching a youtube video or even just having spotify running. Help please!
