Hi Guys ,

Can you please give me your opinion of the components I'm planning to use in my build .

Here Is the parts :

PC Parts Picker

1-CPU : Intel - Core i7-8700 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor

2-Motherboard : Asus - ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING

3-CPU Cooler : Cooler Master - MasterLiquid ML240R RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

4-Thermal Compound : Thermal Grizzly - Kryonaut 1g 1g Thermal Paste

5-Memory : Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000

6-Storage : Samsung - 970 Evo 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive

7- GPU : EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB FTW3 GAMING iCX Video Card

8-PSU : Gigabyte 800W 80+ Odin

9-Case : Cooler Master HAF 932

Kindly note these things:

1- that i only want to use Intel CPU and EVGA GPU

2- The Budget is 2000$ + Extra 100$ or 200$ is also ok for me

3- The Case and The PSU are already in my old PC

Most concern is to keep the CPU as cool as possible

Thanks in advance xD

Since you're getting a locked processor I would suggest an ASUS H370-F

Thanks for the reply .

But The H370-F Doesn't support the ram speed i choose as per ASUS website , and i thought of the z370 for future if i wanted to upgrade , It also has built in WiFi and Bluetooth :P

if you're not planning on overclocking it atm but still planning on getting the z370-E mobo, I would suggest either downgrading to the i5-8600k, saving $50usd and giving you the option to oc in the future to get the full range of your build if you choose to then, or downgrading your memory to 2666 and getting the B360 with wifi to save $65 usd. imho, i would go with the i5 though. Let's you keep the build how you currently have it and maintains the future upgrade ability that you're looking for at a cheaper cost

I'm thinking of upgrading to the i7 8700K to future proof if i thought about overclocking .

but whats your opinion about the GPU , i heard some stuff that the evga has some cooling issues and the competitors are much better .

You don't need a $120 cooler for a locked cpu. Also no point buying extra thermal paste either. I would either go with the 8700K from the off or drop the cooler and also go with a B360 board if you definitely have no plans to overclock. A Cryorig H7 would be fine for an 8700.

That SSD is not really needed for general day to day stuff. A good SATA such as the 860 evo or MX300 etc would do fine.

It is very unlikely that one would upgrade an i7 cpu on the same motherboard. It certainly would be a waste of resources given Intel's current practices of new chipsets every generation or two.

on the SSD point i think it will be nice added thing to a Gaiming Rig .

Thanks for the reply and i will consider the suggested .

I meant to upgrade the rams or add some extra .

and the difference in price is not that much around 60$ .

mostly my concerns is about the CPU Temperature as i want it to be as cold as it could be .

for the performance between 2666 and 3000 i will check some benchmarks and reviews and will put it into consideration

As far as gpu, it really depends on what you're planning on gaming at and what you plan on doing with your build overall. If just for gaming and running 1080p then it's a bit overkill, heck, if just going 1080p I would say overkill. If going for 1080p I would suggest an EVGA 1080 Hybrid and save about $230 usd as well as bypass any cooling issues you might be concerned about. I would've suggested the 1070ti for that, but the price difference between the 1070ti and 1080 hybrid models is only about $20 usd.

If absolutely deadset on a FTW gpu, then the EVGA 1080 FTW2 Gaming ICX is still a good buy and about $300 usd cheaper than the 1080ti version.

Oh, and btw, if you plan on running at 1440p, a 1080 is still a good gpu that will get the job done.

Dropping down to the 1080 version will allow you to jump up to the 8700k cpu and still save you about $180-250 usd that can be set aside for other stuff later, more storage, or even going super crazy and getting a second gpu for sli (though I would consider that WAY overkill).

As for that exact gpu, I've never used the 1080ti FTW ICX, so I personally can't tell you how the temps are compared to it's competitors, or my opinion on that particular gpu. All I can do is offer some suggestions that might save you a buck or two while still helping you to get to that goal you have for the build

Thank you very much for the very helpful reply .

on the GPU point i'm planing to play games on 4K and i want to build something that i wouldn't need to change or spen more for a while that's why i choose the 1080ti .

Regarding the CPU i'm planing to change it to the 8700K .

i don't mind spending an extra 100$ or 200$ to get the high end parts .

But the most thing that i'm worrying about is the CPU cooler , is it as good as the reviews says ?

Thanks for the reply .

B360 and H370 ATX motherboards have four memory slots and six SATA ports, pretty similar to Z370 motherboards.

Keep in mind that generally speaking CPU coolers cannot cool below the ambient temperature. An H100i V2 will do a better job than the CM MasterLiquid ML240R RGB. If one is using an i7-8700, that much cooling really isn't needed. Unless one plans to run it at full load for long periods of time.

Some hard data on memory scaling, Intel i7-8700K Coffee Lake Memory Benchmark Analysis | TechPowerUp. If one is not using a Z370 motherboard speeds over DDR4-2666 do not matter.

If you elect to use an i7-8700K, Consider the Corsair H100i V2 and Nzxt Kraken X62 coolers.
