Hey,

I thought I'd share something with the rest of the world.  A friend/co worker of mine wanted to mine for Digibyte with his nvidia GPU, but was too intimidated by the aspects of scripting a bat file to get it to work.  Sure, this task is really easy for someone who is tech sauvy,  but this guy wasn't.  So I made it easier for him by coding a simple GUI.  I passed it to a few friends, they seem to really like it, so I thought it time to release it to the world.  The GUI is very light weight, and should not impact mining at all.

There are a few things you are going to need to continue.

1.  A digibyte wallet

2.  An account with TheBlocksFactory

3.  If you ever plan on cashing out,  you also need an account with one of the popular markets like coinbase

4.  (Optional)  you should familiarize yourself with www.Shapeshift.io in case your like me and use coinbase.

Step 1.  Get a Digibyte wallet.  If you don't know what this is,  you can grab digibytes official offline wallet

https://digibyte.io/digibyte-wallet-downloads

Pick the appropriate version for your OS.

Step 2.  Install and run the Digibyte wallet,  let this run and update till its finished ( mine took about 6 hours)

Step 3.  Sign up for an account with TheBlocksFactory.  It's a DGB mining pool

https://dgb-skein.theblocksfactory.com/

For future reference,  we're going to mine using the skein algorithm.

go to your Digibyte wallet,

click on Receive at the top,  then request payment.  Copy the "Address" section somewhere after the semi colon.

go back to theblocksfactory,  go to My Account > and paste this address under "Payment Address".  Enter your pin and click Update Settings.

Step 4. Download My Software located at

www.TomsDevBlog.com

toward the bottom,  there is an Installation Zip Folder + .exe, extract the contents to your desktop.

So before you do anything else let me tell you what the software is going to do.

When you double click on the .exe it first checks if the folder C:\ProgramData\Scrypit exsists.  If it doesn't It makes a script to create a folder and move the contents of Data into it.  Once it's in there,  the program runs.  (it's pretty fast when it does it)  That data folder contains the following programs ccminer, minerd, and ethminer.

I should ALSO note there is an unwritten rule in mining about making sure your mining programs are from the source.  Replace the programs with your own versions of each if you do not trust my source.

Not the best ones around, but it was easy for me to setup.   If you do not trust the source of either of those programs,  you can find your own copy of either of them and replace them.  The software is a GUI that will ask for information from you.  It takes the information you tell it and generates a script to for you and runs it.

Yes, without my gui It's still fairly easy to get going once you get the hang of things, but again this software was written for someone who had little exp with computers.

You may need to run the program as admin the first time around.

Once it moves the folder over,  you should be able to use the interface.  At the moment,  It works with 3 pools  (for Digibyte; The Blocks Factory, Litecoin Litecoinpool.org -- havent tested that in a while), and Ether; Etherminepool.org,  I'll add more as time goes on)

It's quiet self explanatory on what the settings do but

under worker Full User name

you must use YOUR_TBF_ACCOUNT_NAME(dot)ANY_NAME.  The password can be anything

So in my case,  my account name is tomd and i'm going to use the name comp2.  soo the full worker name is

tomd.comp2

When you want to mine,  click START MINING.  This will create a script for you in the folder and run it.  In about 15 minutes,  you should see activity in your TBF account.

You don't need to create workers with the TBF,   they do it for you.  For Litecoinpool though,  they need to be created first.

I hope this helps someone!

Have to admit, I was worried I'd have a case of self advertising on my hands. Turns out it worked for the better.

Welcome to the forums!

haha, yeah  I was hesitant to post this at first -- and if I'm breaking TOS by all means delete this and slap me for it.  But thank you!  I decided to stop lurking and just to register finally! :D
