Improving After Effects workflow on MacBook?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina 13" 2013 (I know no one uses Mac as a main system, but just don't beat me)

I've been editing videos for past few years and I'm starting to feel the age of my computer

My CPU is on max load, and my system memory is running out too (I only have 8gigs)

I normally set the playback quality to quarter but I'm still only getting 20-30fps with 1920*1080

There is no "team render" feature like Cinema 4D has, and I tried watch folder rendering, but it didn't work properly so I ended up just stuck on single node rendering with DUAL CORE CPU on my MacBook Pro

Is there any way to improve my timeline workflow and rendering time?

EDIT: actually, could you get a screenshot showing the timeline layers? preferably the one with the most layers

I do not have any layers, just three, and few effects and masks
