Friend's Daytrading Rig

He's using this for gaming, daytrading and some DAW work.  He tore apart his mining rig to sell it.  He did manage to keep one of his GTX 1080 Ti's.  This build was designed to be silent, compact, powerful, and apart from the GPU, affordable.  I selected most of the parts.

 

CPU: i5-7600k 

RAM: 16 GB (8 GB x 2)

Fans: Be Quiet Pure Wings 2

Storage: WD Blue 250 GB 2.5" SSD

Power Supply: Corsair CX550M

Case: Fractal Design Define Nano S

Motherboard: AsRock Mini-ITX

Monitor: Asus 31" IPS 1440p.  (he also added 2 more 1080p monitors on the side for multitasking)

 

I originally thought he would have chosen the 1070 so I chose a 550w PSU.  However, it should be fine with the 1080 Ti, although I think with his gaming needs, it's like using a volcano to cook an egg.  But he's not trying to do some insane Linus-style overclocking with the GPU, so it's important to not necessarily make rules based on extreme enthusiast usage.  The CPU will be getting a moderate overclock as well.  The next step of course is upgrading desk, peripherals and adding soime audio equip but he's off to a good start.
