RAM compatibility - will different clock speeds cause problems?

Go to solution Solved by Ian Hamilton,

Thanks bleedblue - so it's just a case of me figuring out if I wanna sell the old parts or keep them and max out the RAM slots on the new rig...

Hi folks,

A quick question re: compatibility - what sort of stuff do I need to look out for when using the same type of RAM on the same motherboard? I'm having to rebuild my system as my motherboard and graphics card are throwing up intermittent problems.

IF I bought a system with Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz, would I be able to use my old RAM alongside it? (Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15R Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz) or would the 3200MHz RAM throw up errors with the 3000MHz stuff?

IIRC both sets will run at the slower module's frequency.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.
