Where to get started to learn ffmpeg encoding?

Hi,

 

For years now Ive been using handbrake to encode my media and still annoyed with its limitations with codecs. 

 

So Ive decided that I want to learn FFmpeg to encode my media. Just having trouble on where to start script/coding wise.

 

Any tutorials or guides on this would be great.
