My 1070 can run every game fine at ultra/max settings, except for minecraft, my fps is 200-300 because my GPU usage hovers around 15-30% and at 1164 mhz. I mean 200-300 fps is great but my friend with a i5-4690k and a gtx 970 gets like 1000+ fps and its kinda annoying when my fps drops lower than my 180hz refresh rate when it could use more power. I just don't understand why my 1070 uses little power for the game now I remember when I first got my PC my clock speed went up to 1949, gpu usage was at 60%-80% and I would get 800-1k fps. I have asked on other forums but they just reply "cpu dependent game gpu makes little effect" or something of that sort.
I have tried:

- Reinstalling windows

- Reinstalling graphics drivers

- Reinstalling minecraft

- Using optifine
- Allocating more ram to the game
Specs:

i5-7600k

Evga GTX 1070 sc

16gb ram 2133mhz

What kind of monitor do you have?

Turning off Vsync in Minecraft settings just so you can say "I'm getting a gajillion FPS in minecraft with my 1070" actually causes tearing since the GPU is no longer pushing frames in sync with the monitor.

The most likely reason you're only using 15-30% is because Minecraft literally doesn't demand enough from your GPU.

It is probably one of the worst  ways to benchmark your 1070/7600k system.

Basically your system is too good for Minecraft.

IDK why you aren't getting really high framerates, but #1 it literally doesn't matter as you can't even see the extra refreshes, the largest number of FPS that can be directly pushed to a monitor at this point is around 240 FPS and #2 you can rest assured your system is 100% better than your friend's.

Allocating more than 2GB of memory to Minecraft will not affect game performance. Your framerate in the game will vary wildly based on what blocks you are looking at. If you look up at the sky you'll get hundreds of FPS, but looking down at large builds and areas filled with players will cause your framerate to drop significantly.

Your GPU and CPU are performing normally. Your GPU utilizing more resources does not always equal better performance.

My monitor - ASUS ROG Swift PG248Q, the point of having higher FPS is so during times where a lot of stuff is happening my fps doesn't dip below my refresh rate.

@Homeless Pineapple https://imgur.com/a/oL4kF  I had 1k fps in mini-games and single player worlds and other people had about the same aswell, but im just wondering why my GPU performed so well back then for the same game but now it doesn't.
